Chris
Let's dive in.
00:00:55:00 - 00:01:30:17
Filly
Hello and welcome to the podcast. Today we have a beautiful episode. Chris and I spoke to Lynn Morgan, who came along to our first retreat back in August. The body knows and this is just such a lovely, lovely conversation. Lynn opens up about her retreat experience, how her body was screaming at her with aches and pains, digestive issues, Sibo, mast cell eruptions, and how listening to her heart and creating a deep felt safety in the body has made all the difference.
00:01:30:21 - 00:01:56:16
Filly
And when I first met Lynn at our retreat, I really felt that there was something really special about this woman. I could feel her energy, and when we spoke that first time, she just held my hands, looked at me in the eyes, got a bit teary and said, I know that I need to be here. And at the moment that she said that I knew magic was going to happen for Lynn at this retreat.
00:01:56:18 - 00:02:20:21
Filly
And so, yeah, we want to share this beautiful journey that she had with us over the three days and how it has impacted her health and her life post the retreat. And I love these stories. When we get to talk to our people in our community who have had some really big, beautiful wins. Progress. Healing. I call this evidence collecting.
00:02:20:21 - 00:02:47:16
Filly
So evidence that healing is possible. And the more that you can see this and hear this and learn from other people who have been on this health journey similar to you, it can open up more possibility for you, more hope, hope that it is possible to heal. So I really want to just express big love and gratitude to the gorgeous Lynn for coming on our show today to spread hope and healing to others.
00:02:47:16 - 00:03:28:15
Filly
And Lynn is a beautiful practitioner herself, so she's a counsellor, NDIS support worker, a Reiki. She practices Reiki, reflexology and holistic massage in the Sutherland Shire in Sydney. So if you're in that area, I definitely, look out for her. You can check out her website in our show notes. She loves helping people shift unconscious beliefs and patterns that keep people stuck, and she is transitioning into also offering women's group healing circles, which we're going to talk more about in this episode, as it's something that her heart has been calling her to do for a long time.
00:03:28:15 - 00:04:00:16
Filly
But it wasn't until the retreat experience that she was able to break through and start creating action around that now. So yeah, just sit back, enjoy this beautiful conversation, and I know that you'll be so inspired wherever you are in your health or your life journey. Oh, and by the way, totally forgot. There's some really exciting things happening in October, so the doors to our program Ending Body Burnout method are open.
00:04:00:16 - 00:04:25:15
Filly
As we mentioned in our podcast episode last week, we are opening the doors for a whole month this time. Previous to that, it's been one week. And yeah, we just wanted to to be a bit more slower, a bit more organic, allow, people to come in without feeling like scarcity or urgency so that you've got some time to make sure that it's a really aligned decision for you.
00:04:25:15 - 00:05:01:17
Filly
Because when you follow your heart and your intuition and you move, whether it's our program or something else, things are going to change for you. So check out the show notes if you want to come join us inside the Ending body Burnout method. Doors are open, but they do close the 27th of October. Also, if you want to learn a bit more about what how we actually support our clients inside our program and what it looks like to work through our ending body burnout method, we are holding a free Rewire Your Brain to Heal Body Burnout online event.
00:05:01:19 - 00:05:25:10
Filly
So every Monday over the next four weeks, we would have just held our first one yesterday. When this comes out live. But there is a replay, we're going to take you through the steps to essentially rewire your brain and your whole self to heal from body burnout and chronic health issues. We've run this, this free event. In the past.
00:05:25:10 - 00:05:50:10
Filly
We've had thousands of people now coming along to it, registering to it, watching back replays, and we've had so much beautiful feedback around people who showed up, lent into those workshops and actually experience transformations just from the free content. So it's definitely worth your while coming along to those, there'll be coaching, there will be practices that will take you through.
00:05:50:11 - 00:06:16:22
Filly
It is definitely not a, you know, a standard masterclass or webinar where we're just going to talk at you and teach at you. I feel like in this day and age, there's so much information now. Yes, we'll be seeing in teaching, but majority of it will really be helping you, to meet you where you're at, to heal your, yeah, your whole self and to get to the root cause.
00:06:17:00 - 00:07:02:08
Filly
So you can find that in the show notes. And the last exciting thing that is happening in October is our next retreat, Heart Meets Land. So this is a live, in-person event at Tasmania. Yeah. Sorry, Glen Eagle, Tasmania. And it's going to be all about dropping out of your head, into your body, into your heart, connecting with the deepest part of you that wants the best for you, working through the blocks that are actually blocking you from listening to this part, or taking action from this part, and then building deep a sense of trust and safety internally so that you can follow through on what your heart wants, what what you want for
00:07:02:08 - 00:07:32:04
Filly
you that's going to allow you to heal and thrive and have the best experience of yourself in this life. So come along to any of those. There's a few spots left for the retreat, so you can check that out at the link below. And yeah, currently we've got a $100 special happening. So if you book in, I think it's before the 12th of October, you can have a $100 off.
00:07:32:04 - 00:07:52:21
Filly
And then after that it goes to the full price. So if you've been sitting on the fence or maybe this is the first time you're hearing about the retreat and you're like, oh, my heart is saying, yes, great time to book in now, before that price increases. All right. So see you on the other side inside the episode.
00:07:52:23 - 00:08:09:10
Chris
Can I, guys? And welcome to this episode of the Ending Body Burnout Show. Today we have a, the lovely Lyn on the on the call. Lynn is one of our. What are we. What do we call Greta? A body whisperer?
00:08:09:11 - 00:08:12:01
Chris
Body whisperer retreat. Her retreat.
00:08:12:05 - 00:08:13:07
Filly
Graduate.
00:08:13:09 - 00:08:14:05
Chris
Lynn came to.
00:08:14:05 - 00:08:21:01
Chris
Our retreat. The the, I was about to say heart meets land. It is. That's what we're about to have.
00:08:21:02 - 00:08:23:03
Filly
Coming up. The body noise.
00:08:23:07 - 00:08:30:19
Chris
Body knows. Oh, dear. We've been happy and happy today. And happy. I can't remember the last one. It was about a month ago.
00:08:30:21 - 00:08:38:22
Filly
Yeah. It's so crazy because it feels like it was just yesterday. But it also feels like it was a year ago, so.
00:08:38:22 - 00:08:40:15
Chris
Welcome, welcome, welcome.
00:08:40:17 - 00:08:41:05
Filly
Yeah.
00:08:41:07 - 00:08:45:02
Lynn
Well, it's lovely to see you both, that's for sure. Yeah, yeah.
00:08:45:02 - 00:09:10:17
Filly
It's so nice to see you and to be able to connect with you again and to. I'm just really excited about this conversation. Let's get back into all the retreat. Feels really felt over three days. So, Lippstadt off with a would you feel comfortable sharing a little bit about you? Because you are also in the the healing world and the healing space within your business.
00:09:10:17 - 00:09:18:16
Filly
So I think it's really nice just for people to hear a bit of your backstory. And I guess what drew you towards coming along to the retreat?
00:09:18:18 - 00:09:43:16
Lynn
Yeah. Wow, I for me, it's been a long journey as, you know, with a lot of health issues. Mental health. So I guess, really, you know, I started my healing journey many years ago, kind of learning reflexology and reiki and holistic massage.
00:09:43:18 - 00:10:17:01
Lynn
But I, you know, I kind of was so excited about learning that stuff, and, and obviously, I, I set a small business up in England and we emigrated 15 years ago, and I came away from my family of origin, and, I hit a wall that a deep depression, I think, more than anything. And then I discovered that, you know, with all my training in this holistic energy work that I did, that actually there was parts of me that I just couldn't access at all.
00:10:17:01 - 00:10:58:01
Lynn
And the depression became great. And I ended up doing some inner work on, you know, my core beliefs and inner child work, and which then led me into getting a group in counselling. And then I went on to a master's in a holistic counselling. And since then. So I set my business up probably 3 or 4 years ago now, in one on one mental health counselling as well as NDIS, support work, really helping clients to kind of meet their therapeutic goals, really coming alongside them.
00:10:58:01 - 00:11:25:13
Lynn
And I also trained in lifelines or as a lifeline crisis counsellor. And life got really busy and, you know, my business was doing really well and it just kept getting busier and busier and busier and, you know, and there was part of me that was thrilled that it was taking off. And then the other part of me was just so exhausted.
00:11:25:15 - 00:11:51:04
Lynn
So how I ended up really at the beginning of this year, exhausted. I'd had a family of origin visit, which had obviously triggered a lot of internal stuff for me. But by the time they'd gone, I'd got a frozen shoulder. I'd got, like a label chair in my left hip. Really bad Bursa situs my body discs.
00:11:51:04 - 00:12:16:19
Lynn
It was like my body was screaming at me and it's like, whoa, what is going on? And at that point it was just like, stop. So my my body physically stopped me. And so as it does, you know, and, and I just could not soldier on. And, you know, for a lot of my life, I've just been in that fight and flight.
00:12:16:19 - 00:12:36:10
Lynn
Really. So my history is, you know, that I've been a solo parent and I've been working and I've just, you know, if I look back, did I have any choices? Probably not. I just kept pushing on through because someone had to pay the bills. Yeah. And so I, I remember stopping and just going, you know what?
00:12:36:10 - 00:13:12:05
Lynn
I can't do the hours I'm doing, I need to stop. And so really, since January, it's been this slowing down and taking time to just reconnect with myself. And and then I kind of became really conscious of how, like, the physical body is connected to our core beliefs, what we believe about ourselves, which I've done a lot of work on, but I don't think I had really connected the nervous system in there as well, and how it's all intertwined.
00:13:12:07 - 00:13:34:06
Lynn
And so it was so I started doing some breathwork, starting to regulate myself and become, you know, what I realised was that my, you know, my kind of my tolerance was really like my nervous system was on this fight and flight, really. And, and it was quite a high beam and so did I really know what it was like to feel calm.
00:13:34:06 - 00:13:49:18
Lynn
No. Not really. And, and then, you know, I started to see the cycles between the nervous system and then the physical ailments. So I have food intolerances. I have Marcel, I have.
00:13:49:19 - 00:14:09:06
Lynn
I have CB and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, and, and and then I started to see the connection between body, mind, nervous system. And it was when I started to make them connections that I found you and Chris, and it was like, whoa, here you are.
00:14:09:08 - 00:14:11:00
Filly
You all together.
00:14:11:02 - 00:14:39:16
Lynn
Bringing it all together. And and I think, you know, before, before January, I always had this vision of working in doing more like workshops, women's circles. Because I've got this knowing inside of me how important it is for women to have connection. It's something I've certainly craved. And I think if I crave it, I'm sure other women crave that to.
00:14:39:18 - 00:15:04:06
Lynn
So I'm currently moving from one on one work, to wanting to kind of. And I guess this might come up a bit later from the retreat I discovered is that, you know, there's part of me is a bit, like, I can see this dream and, and you talk about your heart being pulled towards doing something.
00:15:04:08 - 00:15:32:12
Lynn
So I certainly have had this pulling inside this deep, knowing that that's my calling. That's what my soul needs to be doing. So. Yeah. So I'm taking little steps to move myself out of this one on one to offer more of a, you know, a group setting really, where people can support themselves. And, you know, and I absolutely believe that we all have inner wisdom.
00:15:32:12 - 00:15:44:22
Lynn
We all have our own answers. We just need the right environment and create that safety within ourselves to find that inner wisdom.
00:15:45:00 - 00:15:45:06
Filly
Yeah.
00:15:45:07 - 00:15:47:00
Lynn
So that's really.
00:15:47:02 - 00:16:24:01
Filly
There's I'm like, do I bring it in here now or later? Well, let's talk because I think that that was a big thing that shifted for you after the retreat and even just you here saying that, it's like, that's so cool because prior to the retreat, it's like one on one, and also tired. And then a deeper part of you wanting to do something that is still expressing your gifts and helping other people, but in a way that feels really aligned in, feels like all parts of you.
00:16:24:03 - 00:16:50:06
Filly
And yeah, I'm kind of feeling like this conversation will probably go through like what that actually looks like to connect into that, to break through that, to now in your real life. Not that the retreat wasn't real life, but, you know, it's kind of like this beautiful bubble of safety and, yeah, awesomeness. But yeah, it sounds like you're definitely making steps to create that as reality, which is so cool.
00:16:50:08 - 00:17:14:10
Filly
So I we will circle back to that, and I'm sure we will move through that as well. Okay. So you came along to the retreat. Were there any. Because I feel like especially for women taking time out for multiple days investing in self, there's a lot of people, I guess, that like without retreats, the one that we just had and also the one coming up, they're like, oh, I'd love to that.
00:17:14:10 - 00:17:30:17
Filly
But I couldn't, I couldn't do, I couldn't run a like the kids or work or, or I couldn't spend that money on myself. Did you have any of that stuff pop up for you or. It was like a big heart, mind, body. Yes. I'm going.
00:17:30:19 - 00:18:00:06
Lynn
Well, it was an interesting it was very interesting how it all came about, because actually we were invited to go away with my son and his wife and the and the grandkids that week. And for like normally I would jump at the chance of having a holiday with the grandkids. But there was something deep in me going now, and I put it down to my hip pain, my back, my shoulder, like, well, I don't know if I could sit on a plane, blah blah blah blah.
00:18:00:08 - 00:18:20:21
Lynn
Anyway, I said no because I listened to that in that in a part of me that was screaming at me going, no. And then when when this retreat came up, it was just like, oh, okay. So then I said to my husband, like Tasmania, do you fancy coming to Tasmania? Like, because it's like there's this retreat that I want to do.
00:18:21:01 - 00:18:36:09
Lynn
Yes, yes. So we kind of tossed and turned around it, and he decided that he didn't want to go to Tasmania in the winter. So we had wanted.
00:18:36:11 - 00:19:01:11
Lynn
And then and then I just thought, you know what? I need to go. I just need to go. And I remember saying to him, I need to go. And he goes, oh, okay. And it's just like that. And I didn't think about it anymore. And I looked at the money and the flights and then the extra accommodation, and I went, you know what?
00:19:01:12 - 00:19:16:19
Lynn
Just do it. Just do it. And, so certainly my heart absolutely screamed at me and my head could have justified lots of reasons for not coming. I just knew I had to be there.
00:19:17:01 - 00:19:17:21
Filly
Yeah. It's so.
00:19:17:23 - 00:19:21:15
Lynn
Just a deep knowing that I needed to be there.
00:19:21:16 - 00:19:40:05
Filly
It's so beautiful. Chris and I just recorded a podcast that'll go out before yours, I think, on intuition. And there is like sometimes on paper it's like, that looks like a good idea. So that would be a you going away with the grandkids. It's like, yeah, like I would, I would usually would have loved that. But I'm getting this.
00:19:40:11 - 00:19:52:18
Filly
I can't explain it. But it's saying no. And then I don't know if it was a few weeks later, it's like, oh, this is why. Because this space is like opening up and unfolding for me.
00:19:52:20 - 00:20:03:04
Lynn
Yeah, I think they booked at the beginning of the year. So, but but yeah, I mean, it was just like, absolutely, it was the right thing for me.
00:20:03:06 - 00:20:24:01
Filly
Amazing. And I do remember when, like, we had not met before. No. I also think, like a lot of the people that came to the retreat, are like our clients or have worked with us before, and there were a few people that hadn't. And I'm like, that is so brave. And also, like, so much trust you're putting into us, not working with us.
00:20:24:01 - 00:20:51:03
Filly
But when I introduced my, you know, you know, we introduced ourselves to each other and I really felt like my heart and I just had this, like, beautiful experience of you and your energy. And I think you even said to me like, I'm, I need to be here. Or there was something along those lines. And like, I felt that in every part of my, my heart and body as well.
00:20:51:07 - 00:20:59:23
Filly
Yeah. And I'm like something I'm like, I don't know what's going to happen for Lynn, but I think something magical is going to happen in.
00:21:00:00 - 00:21:18:20
Filly
So cool. Okay. What what key insights did you discover about yourself like that might be your body or your self or your life during the retreat?
00:21:18:22 - 00:21:26:19
Lynn
I, I had so many haha moments of.
00:21:26:21 - 00:21:53:02
Lynn
One. I absolutely knew I needed to be there and so I, I kind of felt like, you know, I was all in for all of the experiences and trusted that I absolutely needed to be there, and whatever was going to happen was what I needed to see and what needed to happen. And I think even just in connecting with you through Facebook, I absolutely had that innate trust.
00:21:53:02 - 00:22:31:06
Lynn
And, you know, that for me is something, like is huge because, you know, I've, I've worked with a lot of people and I have been let down a lot. So I went with a very open heart and a very trusting heart. I think connecting with women, the beautiful group of women that that, like, we were all meant to be there, and the connection was so powerful.
00:22:31:08 - 00:23:00:01
Lynn
And I think for me, I hadn't really comprehended how much grief I was actually holding onto in my body. And how much of that grief was actually manifesting itself in physical pain, in inflammation in my body. And I think for me, the breathwork was on the Friday night was such a big release of, you know, things that had happened in the last year that had been very traumatic for me.
00:23:00:03 - 00:23:27:22
Lynn
But afterwards, you know, I think the next morning I woke up with a migraine. And I realised then that that was just years of grief, not just of the kind of the experiences I'd had in the last year or so, but it was such a deep grief and of so many aspects of my life, you know, that have been challenging, I guess.
00:23:28:00 - 00:23:44:05
Lynn
So it was like I just woke up and it just felt all in my head and my neck. And I remember thinking, oh, typical, typical. But I think I soon realised that it was just my body's way of.
00:23:44:07 - 00:24:00:12
Lynn
Rid of whatever it was, just processing, just, you know, and actually, I did sleep a lot Saturday. I remember taking myself off when we had quiet time and I rested, and I just feel like it was my body's way of saying, you know what? It's okay.
00:24:00:14 - 00:24:01:09
Filly
00:24:01:11 - 00:24:10:07
Lynn
Okay. To rest and it's okay to just have some tears. And the migraine was just, just a little reminder.
00:24:10:09 - 00:24:11:12
Filly
Yeah.
00:24:11:14 - 00:24:22:08
Lynn
That you know it's it's, it felt like it was just going through my body moving through shifting shifting.
00:24:22:10 - 00:24:25:22
Filly
Do you feel like.
00:24:26:00 - 00:24:32:09
Filly
I guess like anything on that Saturday or Sunday help to continue process and shift that?
00:24:32:11 - 00:24:41:22
Lynn
I think we did some workshops. You know, I can't remember the all of it because it was, you know, if I look at the whole weekend, I just go, wow.
00:24:42:00 - 00:25:06:01
Lynn
Together and it's all a bit mushed together. Yeah. So for me, it's, you know, like, so some of the workshops, I think when we were writing and stuff like that, I find that quite challenging anyway, because that's kind of like I'm more of a one on one person to talk rather than kind of in a bigger group.
00:25:06:03 - 00:25:24:08
Lynn
Even just thinking and contemplating some of the questions that that Chris was asking and just pondering and, and then certainly coming into the sound bath, I think, you know, my body felt very relaxed and we'd done some other like.
00:25:24:09 - 00:25:26:00
Filly
Subconscious rewiring.
00:25:26:01 - 00:25:57:00
Lynn
Subconscious rewiring, and, and, and I think what I've really realised was that for the first time, I actually felt really safe in my body. And, that was a bit of a hard moment for me. So I'd certainly with The Haven and with the wonderful women that we were with, that I never felt unsafe, ever, you know, and that everyone was very open in their conversations, very gentle and caring.
00:25:57:02 - 00:26:44:01
Lynn
Which is such a beautiful, like just what a beautiful place to be where you can just literally be yourself and don't need to worry about putting any masks on, you know? And if you're feeling really vulnerable, you're feeling vulnerable. And if you're feeling happy, you're feeling happy. Or if you're feeling sad, it's okay. It's all part of the process of being in this, this it kind of felt like we're in this ball of healing energy all together, like it was just, you know, just the energy of so many women in the same space looking for the same outcomes, looking for healing of some sort was very powerful.
00:26:44:03 - 00:27:03:19
Lynn
So, you know, all the exercises and they kind of just flowed from one to the other and it kind of felt like my body was on this journey of like just learning to be relaxed, learning to be at peace with herself, you know? And then we did the singing, the women, you know, when we did the sound baths and the singing.
00:27:03:19 - 00:27:21:08
Lynn
And, you know, I remember like all the hairs on the back of my neck just would, you know, it was just profound, and just, you know, and I think it was someone near me, like one of the ladies had such a beautiful voice. That was it.
00:27:21:08 - 00:27:23:05
Filly
Just that was.
00:27:23:07 - 00:27:36:00
Lynn
It could have been Tia, but just like, it just was amazing to be part of that sound bath and to feel so comfortable in my own skin.
00:27:36:02 - 00:27:44:21
Filly
Yes. That's so beautiful. So when you said it's the the first time I felt safe in my body, would you say, like in all of your life.
00:27:44:23 - 00:28:15:11
Lynn
You know what? I'm my conscience. Remembrance. I would actually say that because I think I've always felt like I've needed a mask on for for safety or a bit of protection or, I think, you know, the my history has been kind of a lot of, trauma experiences with a lot of very unsafe people. So for me to actually feel really safe in my body was.
00:28:15:13 - 00:28:20:05
Lynn
Performed surround. Yeah.
00:28:20:07 - 00:28:48:10
Filly
It is like, I, I mean, I've been reflecting on the the power of the collective experience and the healed experience, and I did a podcast episode on it. I don't know when it would have been probably about a month ago by the time this goes out. But yeah, I think it is. It's one of the things is when you can be in a judgement free space, to be you like in, in all, of all of your parts, the wonderful ones.
00:28:48:10 - 00:29:00:11
Filly
And then the ones that you might not think are very acceptable. And then to receive that with love and kindness and curiosity, like from other people.
00:29:00:13 - 00:29:01:01
Lynn
Yeah.
00:29:01:04 - 00:29:26:22
Filly
That's part of the rewiring process to and you know, obviously we don't want to, just attach external validation onto I can only feel safe with other people. But I think like as humans being evolved in tribes, we need to experience that in a really powerful way at least once, for then for us to then be able to build that internally inside of ourselves as well.
00:29:26:22 - 00:29:38:05
Filly
So I'm curious, like, since you've been home because it's been over a month now, like, do you feel like you've carried that safe in the body inside of yourself post retreat?
00:29:38:07 - 00:30:06:20
Lynn
Yes, I do, and it's it's fascinating, isn't it? Because I think, I don't think I had connected. I hadn't connected it like I might intellectually understand all this stuff, but to have an experience like that and, you know, I think we, we connected, in the group and I kind of shared with you, like, I got back on the Monday and then on the Thursday, my son had had a bike accident and, what?
00:30:06:22 - 00:30:39:03
Lynn
But I realised from that experience was that, you know, it's like my nervous system reacted instantly and it's like, no, stop. You're safe. You. I am actually safe. You know, and I found myself skipping and dancing and moving my body and doing the breathwork to bring myself back into that safety of knowing that, you know, regardless of whatever happens around me, I can feel safe in my body.
00:30:39:05 - 00:30:47:01
Lynn
I think that's one of the profound things that I've taken away, that I hadn't realised, that I didn't feel safe until I felt safe.
00:30:47:03 - 00:31:20:20
Filly
Yes. And I and I think when you said I don't, I can't even remember this, this like single elements because it's all just mushed together in like, wellness, in this like, healing bubble. And I think that's what's so powerful about a multiple day, like transformational retreats is that you have layer upon layer upon layer of sensory, somatic, and also like intellectual anchors into all parts of you that when you go back into your life and stuff is always going to pop up.
00:31:21:02 - 00:31:21:17
Lynn
Yeah.
00:31:21:19 - 00:31:42:21
Filly
You're able to you're able to anchor that back into the body. And that is that's where the deeper regulation comes into it. So it's like it's not constantly like I have to regulate and try and relax myself. Like and this is a lot of hard work. It's actually just dropping back into the reminder and memory of that safe space.
00:31:42:22 - 00:31:53:10
Filly
And then and then, then your neurology is like oh, okay, cool. So we're doing it here right now. In a time of crisis, we are safe.
00:31:53:12 - 00:32:19:21
Lynn
Yeah, absolutely. And it was so profound to think that, you know, when you can have something and then, you know what? I can get myself back there and I and I have and I've constantly done that since we've been back because life happens. Right. And we've had a few curveballs. Yeah, but but I still, you know, ultimately what I've noticed is that I haven't got this deep drive.
00:32:19:22 - 00:32:47:11
Lynn
I'm much slower and I'm much I feel more connected with myself. And life can happen around me. And, you know, I think one of the biggest profound experiences I had also with that breathwork was this visualisation of of having distance between my family and myself that, you know, that I don't have to be merged in with everything that's going on with them, that I can be separate.
00:32:47:13 - 00:32:50:03
Lynn
00:32:50:05 - 00:32:57:04
Lynn
And, and how beautiful is that? I kind of feel like, you know, it's given me more space.
00:32:57:06 - 00:33:20:11
Filly
Yes, yes. Oh. So good. Yeah. So you mentioned the grief before in terms of are like, I really feel like this is connected to my physical symptoms. Would you say that that was where you ended in terms of like the root cause of what the body was trying to tell you, or was there something even under that?
00:33:20:12 - 00:33:52:01
Lynn
I think that was I what do you think? So, yes. I think the grief around my physical pain was one thing. But also I think I think what my body was screaming at me for was that inner safety, Really? And, you know, if I, if I think back to the times that I've had see both my Marcel, all of that, it's in times of stress where I haven't felt safe in my body, that then all of these symptoms start rising.
00:33:52:01 - 00:34:18:04
Lynn
It's kind of like they snow pull, you know, and then my sleep is affected and blah, blah, blah. And on it goes. So what I've realised is, you know, that my I mean, I've worked really hard on my sleep and my sleep is much, much, much better. But how less stressed I feel and because I'm feeling less stress than I'm actually sleeping better.
00:34:18:06 - 00:34:56:15
Lynn
And currently I have no physical things in my body, so I don't have. So at this moment in time, like, you know, my Marcel is quiet. You know, I'm I'm. So I say, the only thing that has kind of crept in a bit is the fatigue. But then what I've realised is when I shake my body out and move my body, that I can actually change that to.
00:34:56:17 - 00:35:03:21
Filly
Cool. I'm getting goose bumps. Just well done. You well done body.
00:35:03:23 - 00:35:25:11
Lynn
Absolutely. You know, and and I think for a long time I used to get so angry with my fatigue, it's like, you know what? I've done all this for you body and and you still love and, you know, and and I remember then just saying to myself, well, why don't you just make friends with fatigue? Why don't you just make friends and listen to what fatigue is trying to tell you?
00:35:25:13 - 00:35:25:21
Lynn
00:35:25:23 - 00:35:34:02
Filly
Might be nice to actually just surrender into some rest for the first time in my life.
00:35:34:03 - 00:35:56:17
Lynn
Absolutely. You know, and, and I think, you know, and, and I think the other change for me as well is that, you know, I've certainly had given myself much more rest time since I've been back from the retreat rather than this. Go, go go go. Like I have really slowed down and, and given myself permission to have a lie down in the afternoons, if that's what I want to do.
00:35:56:18 - 00:36:10:00
Lynn
Listen to some music, maybe put a meditation on, like there's no rush. Yes. Which has been wonderful because I've just cut back on on the work to give myself that space and that time.
00:36:10:02 - 00:36:26:20
Filly
Yeah. Oh, I love that. That's so awesome. I mean, you've talked about a lot of aspects of the retreat that were really profound for you. Are there any other parts that it's just like, oh, I loved that.
00:36:26:22 - 00:36:48:16
Lynn
Oh, wow. I mean, I've just touched on a few. I mean, I think the most profound thing for me was on the last day, really, when we did that somatic practice and, you know, I remember you saying, well, you know, you can take your shoes off if you want. It's like my shoes were already off, and I have years.
00:36:48:18 - 00:37:04:23
Lynn
So for that, for me, that was a profound experience as well. So I think, you know, if I look through, I'd already shifted a lot of the grief like I had that that was kind of like moving through my body. And then we'd done the sound and I kind of felt really safe in my body, and I'd done some written work.
00:37:04:23 - 00:37:23:21
Lynn
We'd kind of set out, you know, the goals of where we were moving to. And like, I'd already decided that I was in this transitional space in my life. And then we get to Sunday morning and it's, you know, we're going to do this somatic work out on the on, you know, looking over the ocean. Oh my God.
00:37:24:01 - 00:37:26:15
Filly
Into the body and dance to the ocean.
00:37:26:17 - 00:37:44:17
Lynn
Absolutely. And you know so we started with that and you know, and I was really happy to move my body, which felt really good. And then I think on the second, song, it was kind of a bit more punchy. And I remember stopping because.
00:37:44:19 - 00:37:53:03
Filly
It's like now baby is shaking out the blocks and the not enough. And yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:37:53:06 - 00:38:13:16
Lynn
And I remember I think it was Annie said to me, I saw you stomping and I was stomping on. I was stomping because I was learning it all go, And then I think for me, I ended up laying down on the deck. I don't know if everyone else did. And I remember just feeling the energy in my body.
00:38:13:16 - 00:38:24:05
Lynn
And I just felt really calm and very peaceful. And then it was I think it was the last song, actually the last song. And I.
00:38:24:09 - 00:38:29:10
Filly
Just this.
00:38:29:12 - 00:38:50:16
Lynn
And honestly, I laid there and I felt this urge of energy come up through my body. It was just like something had come and taken over me. It just moved through my body. And then before I knew it, I was up. And I remember just running and jumping through the air. And I remember.
00:38:50:18 - 00:38:53:23
Filly
You were like, pure wetting. And I'm like.
00:38:54:01 - 00:38:54:07
Lynn
Oh.
00:38:54:07 - 00:38:56:02
Filly
Just everyone was just like.
00:38:56:05 - 00:39:01:02
Filly
Look, look at lingo.
00:39:01:04 - 00:39:19:14
Lynn
You know? And and as I landed on the ground, it's like, oh yeah, my hips took a little bit sore, but I still stop. But then I just, I just had this urge to skip and I skipped and, and I, you know what? Even as a child, even as a little girl, I never skipped.
00:39:19:18 - 00:39:20:14
Filly
Wow.
00:39:20:16 - 00:39:44:21
Lynn
Never skipped. And that even, like, as I'm talking about that now, I'm sort of really emotional. You know, I watch my grandchildren skip Lynn as a little girl, never had that joy in her life to skip. And so it was so profound. And the words that came out of my mouth is, I am here, I am here. It was like, I don't this.
00:39:44:23 - 00:39:58:04
Lynn
Yeah. And again, that's not me. Someone to have a voice and to, you know, make a scene of becoming unimportant, invisible to here I am. See me.
00:39:58:06 - 00:40:04:19
Filly
Yes, yes. Because the old like deep unconscious belief you is I'm unimportant.
00:40:04:20 - 00:40:07:05
Lynn
I'm unimportant. Yeah, yeah.
00:40:07:06 - 00:40:09:05
Chris
I've just got some good photos of.
00:40:09:06 - 00:40:35:13
Filly
I remember, I remember this moment like, just because I just missed you. Just coming alive in all your flavours. And I gave you a big hug. And I hope it's okay that I share this, but you. Yeah. You held me, and you're like, I'm a retreat leader like you, Philly. Which I think, like, connects to the transition of like that in a calling to I want to hold them in circles.
00:40:35:14 - 00:40:35:21
Filly
Yeah.
00:40:35:22 - 00:40:36:19
Filly
And I didn't know.
00:40:36:21 - 00:40:42:07
Filly
Exactly what you meant. I mean, we chatted about it later at lunch time, but I was just like, yes.
00:40:42:08 - 00:40:46:15
Filly
What? I'm like, you go girl.
00:40:46:17 - 00:40:57:01
Filly
And I remember Christy also. Maybe she came over and gave you a hug then as well. But she said, you're in a child. Was is so happy right now.
00:40:57:02 - 00:40:58:05
Lynn
Yeah, yeah.
00:40:58:06 - 00:41:18:22
Filly
Which really connects in with what you were saying. Like, as a kid, you you didn't have that opportunity ability to be able to play, have fun and feel joy if you're free. And it's just like doing it for little you, but also like adult wise, compassionate, wonderful, gifted you.
00:41:19:00 - 00:41:37:05
Lynn
Yeah, it's certainly been, you know, it's something that I do every day. And, I think I shared with you, like, even our puppy dog, we've got one dog left. And I remember the first morning walking with her, and I was just skipping, and she's, like, dancing around me. And I went, yes.
00:41:37:07 - 00:41:37:19
Filly
Yeah.
00:41:38:00 - 00:41:41:22
Lynn
I think my husband thought I lost the plot, but I, you know.
00:41:42:00 - 00:42:04:23
Filly
I, I love it like I'm, I'm still on the beach most days doing my dance to the ocean. It's so powerful and it's so simple, like, everyone can do that. But again, it's kind of like after the transformation and the shifts that you went on and feeling that safety, then it's like, now I feel safe in my body.
00:42:04:23 - 00:42:14:03
Filly
Now I can shine. Like now I can like, be me and follow my dreams and my wants and my needs, and it's safe for me to do that.
00:42:14:04 - 00:42:41:09
Lynn
Yeah. You know, and that's been such a profound experience for me, for not even knowing that I didn't feel safe in my own body. Yeah. Like, you know, and it's. And I can see that that's really held me back in so many ways without even consciously realising how it's held me back. So yeah, it's, it's it was a profound experience.
00:42:41:09 - 00:43:15:01
Lynn
So I absolutely know why I didn't end up going to feed you with my other family. Yeah. And that I came and have found another family I feel very connected to, And, you know, I just think, isn't it wonderful that as a group of women that we can still stay connected, still support each other? And, you know, truly blessed to to have been part of that retreat and to have experienced what I did, but also to witness other women having their experiences as well, was very profound.
00:43:15:05 - 00:43:26:21
Filly
Yeah. It's like lifting each other up. Because, yeah, the listeners, we've got a little WhatsApp group so that everyone could stay connected after the retreat. And it's so lovely. Every second day someone shares a new song.
00:43:27:00 - 00:43:30:18
Filly
Yeah, it's like, this is my song for the day.
00:43:30:20 - 00:43:43:02
Filly
And also like, sometimes people are sharing things that they're really struggling with, and then they've got this band of amazing people coming to support them and help them.
00:43:43:04 - 00:44:06:09
Lynn
Yeah, absolutely. And, you know, I think that's profound, isn't it, really, to kind of have a group of women that, you know, are on this wonderful journey of self-healing and how, you know, how important connection is when we're on this journey of having connection with other women that are doing exactly the same thing, you know, we're all moving forward.
00:44:06:11 - 00:44:09:18
Filly
Yeah, yeah, it's what we used to do in the olden days.
00:44:09:19 - 00:44:10:14
Filly
Like.
00:44:10:16 - 00:44:13:10
Filly
Sit around a fire together and sing.
00:44:13:12 - 00:44:25:14
Lynn
Yeah, absolutely. And you know how much we've lost connection in this world of the way that, you know, everyone's so busy and working and paying bills.
00:44:25:16 - 00:44:48:14
Filly
Yeah, yeah. That it's, you know, I think to when people are in that more survival mode, unsafe mode, the, the paying the bills, the like doing the everyday things to so that I can survive like it is, it's also coming from a deeper place of unsafely. And so when you can clear all that, yes, there's still logistical stuff that you have.
00:44:48:15 - 00:45:10:07
Filly
You know, unless we want to go live of cred, we're still going to have to make some money though, I think. But it's it doesn't become the main focus and the reason for living. It's kind of like, oh, that's just a little problem that I have to solve over there. And what if I actually also align with what I really want and my gifts and how I can, like, serve the world?
00:45:10:08 - 00:45:14:06
Filly
Then I can do both at the same time together and have fun doing it.
00:45:14:08 - 00:45:17:03
Lynn
Yeah, yeah.
00:45:17:05 - 00:45:38:04
Chris
Can I just say something real quick? This is my favourite photo of the retreat. This one right here. Yeah. It's like, Sarah and I. Lin. Ewan. Virginia. Virginia. And then at the back, we've got Christine and somebody else. It's just like this cool photo hug, hug central. It's very cool.
00:45:38:05 - 00:45:41:11
Filly
There were lots of hugs after the dance.
00:45:41:13 - 00:45:41:20
Filly
Yeah.
00:45:41:21 - 00:45:44:21
Filly
Lots of lots of laughter. That was great.
00:45:44:22 - 00:45:46:12
Filly
Yeah, yeah.
00:45:46:14 - 00:46:11:17
Lynn
There was and you know. Oh my gosh. I mean, I could spend hours talking about that retreat and, you know, the connections that you make with with the women and, you know, and I found myself with Virginia and we were like, talk because we both come from England originally. And, you know, we were talking about like how it has been to emigrate and, you know, and how sometimes, you know, when you change countries, it can be so lonely and, you know.
00:46:11:18 - 00:46:12:09
Filly
It's.
00:46:12:11 - 00:46:35:01
Lynn
Find, you know, to find a new group of, you know, you tribe. And. Yeah. And I remember how she just held my hand. We just. And it was just so beautiful to connect on that level. So like, I'm sure there's other moments in that retreat that I haven't even remembered that were, you know, are probably finished. The podcast is oh, I didn't say this.
00:46:35:01 - 00:46:36:12
Lynn
And I didn't say that.
00:46:36:14 - 00:46:57:03
Lynn
But there was just so many, many, many beautiful moments, you know? And I mean, the food was wonderful, you know, for our beautiful Pip and, you know, and even your wonderful sister that came and helped clear up after us all so we didn't have to do all the washing up. It was just just beautiful.
00:46:57:04 - 00:47:01:19
Filly
Yeah. Thank you.
00:47:01:21 - 00:47:04:03
Filly
Couple of last questions.
00:47:04:05 - 00:47:06:16
Filly
Okay. What I get, and.
00:47:06:16 - 00:47:18:09
Filly
I guess you've shared some of these already, like the changes or intentions that you made at the retreat. And what does that look like in terms of how you've carried that into your everyday life?
00:47:18:11 - 00:47:46:18
Lynn
Yeah. So I think, certainly for me, dancing every morning and skipping and just reminding myself that I am here, has has been huge for me. And to really work on keeping myself really regulated and calm, you know, and working towards my dreams, you know, and not to get too busy doing all this other stuff.
00:47:46:19 - 00:47:47:16
Filly
Yeah.
00:47:47:18 - 00:47:51:20
Lynn
That sidetracked me from.
00:47:51:22 - 00:48:09:06
Lynn
Fulfilling what I know I'm being called to do, you know? And I can make lots of excuses about why why I can't do it. But my heart is screaming at me. And that intuition. So that intuition that got me to that retreat, you know, that's what I need to follow now.
00:48:09:06 - 00:48:12:13
Filly
She's she's like, Lynn listens to me. So.
00:48:12:15 - 00:48:14:01
Lynn
Yeah. So watch it, girl.
00:48:14:02 - 00:48:18:18
Filly
Now, now I'm going to make sure she follows me. Yeah.
00:48:18:19 - 00:48:21:16
Lynn
Otherwise we'll give her another frozen shoulder.
00:48:21:18 - 00:48:24:06
Lynn
Yeah.
00:48:24:08 - 00:48:25:19
Filly
That's like my.
00:48:25:19 - 00:48:49:02
Filly
Personal experience. And I also say this with clients, inside our ending body burnout method as well. Like the the closer that you, the closer connection that you have with yourself. And you're listening to yourself and you're taking action, that part of you doesn't let you get away with much now, which is like it's like both. There's some responsibility in that.
00:48:49:03 - 00:48:54:22
Filly
But also she just wants the best for you.
00:48:55:00 - 00:49:14:21
Lynn
Absolutely. You know, and and I think, you know, I was reflecting before this podcast, you know, I've lived most of my life in survival. And, you know, I'm actually in a place in my life now where I'm in happy marriage, you know, and that I can be safe and I can I can fulfil my dreams, you know, it's all here.
00:49:14:21 - 00:49:20:02
Lynn
I can do that. So.
00:49:20:04 - 00:49:40:00
Filly
These circles, women's circles and where, where you would like to transition into. I mean, we are going to share your website on in the show notes. So people head down, they'll check out Lynn Morgan Therapy's website. And you are based in Sutherland Shire?
00:49:40:01 - 00:49:40:23
Lynn
Yeah. In Sydney.
00:49:41:00 - 00:49:51:23
Filly
Yeah. So for anyone kind of local, are you still you're still doing some one on one work. You're just kind of like reducing that so you can open up space for more of the workshop style circle.
00:49:52:01 - 00:50:08:07
Lynn
So currently I am still doing that. I've kind of pulled it back to give myself some space to, work on, you know, working towards getting the, the workshops and the, the women's circles set up.
00:50:08:07 - 00:50:09:01
Filly
Yeah.
00:50:09:03 - 00:50:13:05
Filly
So what does that look like? Let's manifest it right now.
00:50:13:07 - 00:50:14:12
Lynn
Oh yes.
00:50:14:14 - 00:50:16:00
Filly
It more.
00:50:16:02 - 00:50:24:17
Lynn
Yeah. So I've you know it's interesting is it. Someone said to me like what what's going to make your women's circle so different to anyone else is you.
00:50:24:19 - 00:50:27:09
Filly
It's like literally you.
00:50:27:11 - 00:50:53:04
Lynn
And you know what? I kind of came away and went, oh, you know what is going to do that? And then, you know, when I was sitting really, you know, have a lot of lived experience of a lot of things. And, you know, and I think that that says a lot about, you know, having having that lived experience and being able to connect with women on, on so many different levels.
00:50:53:06 - 00:51:23:06
Lynn
But I think, like, like we said about, you know, the the retreat, I think safety is number one. So, you know, the, the women's circles, I want them to be a really safe place where, where women can come and be who they are without any masks, you know, that they can kind of just come and be and that we can, you know, maybe as groups decide what it is that we want to work on or, you know, how.
00:51:23:08 - 00:51:52:13
Lynn
So I'm just in the throes of kind of sitting with that at the moment, you know, what is what is going to make a special women's circle, you know, what is it that women are looking for? And, you know, just reflecting back on my own experience, really, and what was I looking for? You know, when I felt a little bit disconnected from myself, when I felt lost, what was it I needed and wanted to help me to kind of sit with that and to transition into, you know, into a different space.
00:51:52:13 - 00:51:57:05
Lynn
And if I look back at different times in my life, I've needed different things.
00:51:57:07 - 00:51:59:06
Filly
Yeah. Yeah.
00:51:59:08 - 00:52:02:01
Filly
So exciting. So excited for you.
00:52:02:03 - 00:52:02:11
Filly
Yeah.
00:52:02:12 - 00:52:22:17
Filly
And and I do like, that's why I was very empathetic. It's like like you, you will you will put your flavour and your energy and or your gifts and, or your lived experience. And if there's a whole heartedness in that and you believe that it's possible and that you can do that, the right people come into your space.
00:52:22:20 - 00:52:35:16
Filly
Yeah. It's like the people that need you in that moment just, I mean, in the way that you didn't really know me and Chris hardly at all when you booked in for the retreat. And it's just like, I need to be there.
00:52:35:18 - 00:52:38:12
Filly
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, absolutely.
00:52:38:12 - 00:52:41:12
Lynn
And, you know, I just think that's how the universe works, right?
00:52:41:18 - 00:52:43:14
Filly
Yeah.
00:52:43:16 - 00:52:44:12
Filly
So good.
00:52:44:13 - 00:52:46:12
Filly
Yeah. Well.
00:52:46:12 - 00:52:56:20
Filly
Thank you so much for sharing so generously. Your experience and just just who you are. You're so important.
00:52:57:01 - 00:53:02:07
Filly
You're so wonderful to. You're inspiring.
00:53:02:09 - 00:53:03:18
Lynn
All them things. I go.
00:53:03:20 - 00:53:06:02
Filly
Oh, it's like receive.
00:53:06:02 - 00:53:06:20
Filly
Receive.
00:53:06:22 - 00:53:16:10
Lynn
Receive it. Absolutely. I'm not going to push it back. I'm going to take that on. So thank you. And it's been wonderful to connect with you both again.
00:53:16:14 - 00:53:16:23
Chris
Yeah.
00:53:17:00 - 00:53:32:19
Filly
But honestly like I say that really, genuinely the first time that like we actually had a little cuddle and a little talk really like just to introduce ourselves, I, I definitely felt there's like, this is a special woman.
00:53:32:21 - 00:53:34:22
Lynn
Thank you.
00:53:35:00 - 00:53:36:03
Filly
Yeah, yeah.
00:53:36:05 - 00:53:36:17
Chris
All right.
00:53:36:18 - 00:53:37:09
Filly
All right.
00:53:37:10 - 00:53:45:02
Chris
Well, before you go stick around, we'll hang up the call. But stay around and we'll say goodbye formally and.
00:53:45:04 - 00:53:45:09
