Chris
Let's dive in.
00:00:56:23 - 00:01:04:22
Chris
G'day guys, and welcome to this episode of the Ending Body Burnout Show. Filling and I are going to be chatting about intuition today.
00:01:05:02 - 00:01:33:01
Filly
Yeah. So before we dive in to today's topic, we do want to share some exciting things that are happening in October. So you may have seen doors are opening to our Ending Body Burnout method program in October. And in the past we like for many years we have open doors three times a year for one week only, and this is like part of our listening to our intuition is that we've decided to open the doors for one month.
00:01:33:04 - 00:01:58:11
Filly
Why not? I mean, there's some reasons behind it. I think just energetically, it feels a lot nicer for Chris and I. If we have more space and time to be able to share the results that you can get inside the ending body. Burnout method Chris has in the past has had heaps of free discovery calls in one month, and I've been talking to us in one week, and I've been talking to lots of people in that one week space as well.
00:01:58:12 - 00:02:19:13
Filly
And we just want to do business in a way that feels slower, nicer, more ease full. And the feedback that we were getting from you guys too, especially if you came across us during a launch week where it's like, oh, I love what you guys are doing, and I would love to join your program, but I have to decide in three days.
00:02:19:13 - 00:02:43:08
Filly
And so opening up the doors for one month, I think is just going to be great for everyone's nervous systems. And so that also means that we are still going to be doing a free coaching event again. Usually that happens over a week, but we're actually going to just space it out. So we're doing our Rewire Your Brain to Heal Body burnout event, which we've had thousands of people come to.
00:02:43:09 - 00:03:05:19
Filly
So much amazing feedback for people who have attended to that. And it will be delivered over the course of four weeks. So you can kind of essentially see it as a free, coaching course. And you'll have Chris and I live with you in the zoom room, and we're going to take you through the four steps to rewire your brain and to end your body burnout.
00:03:05:20 - 00:03:25:12
Filly
So that's all exciting. So you can check out the show notes to jump on the waitlist for the Ending Body Burnout Method program. If you are interested, it's best to jump on early because you will get $500 worth of bonuses. And you can also check out our free four week event as well. And one last thing happening in October.
00:03:25:12 - 00:03:46:15
Filly
So 31st of October, we're also holding a retreat, Heart Meets Land at Gleneagles, Tasmania on the 31st of October. It's a one day retreat, but you do have the option of making it a retreat weekend for yourself by staying in a luxury dome or camping on the land. We've got a few people signed up ready to do that.
00:03:46:17 - 00:04:11:08
Filly
And this retreat is going to be all about really dropping out of the head, into the heart, into your intuition, and learning how to listen to that part of you that wants the best for you, and breaking through the blocks that are holding you back from living your life in alignment with self. So if you want to check out that retreat, head down to the show notes as well.
00:04:11:10 - 00:04:37:19
Filly
Okay, so let's talk about why ignoring your intuition causes body burnout. So when people think about burnout often it's like, yeah, I've been doing too much and that's why I'm burnt out and that's why my body is screaming at me. I know, I know, I know, I just have to stop doing so much. But what if your body burnout isn't just about doing too much?
00:04:37:19 - 00:05:03:21
Filly
What if the deeper problem is that you have become really, really good at overriding yourself? And this might look like things like ignoring the feeling that you need to rest, or pushing through when your body is saying stop, or knowing that you didn't want to go somewhere, or you didn't want to do something that you went because you felt like you should do those things or you had to do those things.
00:05:03:23 - 00:05:30:03
Filly
It might also look like saying yes when every part of you wants to say no. It might also look like knowing deep in yourself that a relationship, or a job, or a commitment, or a part in your business or a situation wasn't right for you, but you talked yourself out of what you felt and you've kept doing the thing.
00:05:30:05 - 00:05:57:05
Filly
Do any of these things resonate? I think a lot of humans override this deepest part of them that wants the best for them. How? Intuition. Because we feel like we should be doing the sensible thing, or what other people think we should be doing, or what you think you should be doing, but it's based on past trauma or distressing events, based on self limiting beliefs about self and based on a bunch of conditioning.
00:05:57:07 - 00:06:35:02
Filly
So we have seen time and time again what happens when people repeatedly override these signals coming from your deeper knowing? So when you're ignoring those intuitive whispers from the deepest part of you that wants the best for you? Body burnout is what happens. People. So in this episode, we're exploring the connection between your intuition, the brain and body burnout, and why learning to listen to yourself again is the key to healing, and it could be your missing piece of your own healing journey.
00:06:35:04 - 00:06:56:02
Filly
So let's talk about intuition, because it is a word that gets thrown around a lot, and a lot of people can get confused or have a vague sense of what intuition is. So this is what what I feel intuition is. Or when I'm talking about intuition, this is my experience of it and what we help encourage our clients to connect into.
00:06:56:03 - 00:07:19:21
Filly
So dictionary definition first says intuition is the ability to understand or know something without needing conscious reasoning, logic, or hard proof. So if you're up in your head all the time trying to like logic your way into making decisions or doing things, that's not intuition, that's you being stuck in the head. So I think about intuition as a feeling.
00:07:20:03 - 00:07:46:22
Filly
It's annoying. It's coming from the deepest part of you that wants the best for you, and that part of you is essentially your true essence or your authentic self, your authentic blueprint, and the part of you, this part of you has always got your back. It's constantly guiding you to return back to yourself and back to alignment and back to what feels right and good for you.
00:07:47:00 - 00:08:08:10
Filly
Quick little story. I was having a one on one coaching session with a client this week, and she said, you'd be so proud of me, Philly, when, when I was asked if this thing she was, this situation she was in, if this if I wanted to do this, I dropped out of my head and into my body and into my heart and I said, yes, this feels right.
00:08:08:11 - 00:08:36:14
Filly
And that was a really cool experience for her because, her ability to tap into intuition had been shut down for many decades. Other language that some people use when they're talking about intuition is the heart or the heart centre, or knowing and feeling making decisions from the heart. Other people use the word soul or spirit or higher mind or self or higher consciousness.
00:08:36:14 - 00:09:12:06
Filly
I mean, I'll use all those words interchangeably, but essentially they're all saying the same thing, and everyone will have their own unique blueprint for how the intuition speaks to them. So personally, for me, I know my intuition is speaking to me when I have like a real heart knowing. So like literally the organ or of my heart and my chest feels glowy, enlarged, vibrant, buzzy, emotional in a good way, almost like I love.
00:09:12:08 - 00:09:14:18
Filly
My life.
00:09:14:20 - 00:09:53:18
Filly
It can feel more spiritual than logical. And for me, it often feels really grounded, really expansive, really powerful. Like I'm in my own power and alive. I feel alive when my intuition is talking to me versus feeling very heavy, hard, forced, fearful. Which is the way that I lived my life for a really long time. And because I followed through on my intuition and my heart's prompting promptings, and many times now I have learnt to really deeply trust it, and I've gotten really good at listening to it.
00:09:53:20 - 00:10:21:23
Filly
It's essentially a practice. Learn how your intuition speaks to you and then trust it through practising on following those promptings and see what happens. Personally, for me, only good things have ever happened when I followed my heart, when I followed my intuition, it's led me to having more health, happiness, more aliveness, more success, more living my purpose.
00:10:22:01 - 00:10:36:05
Filly
Kris, do you have, like, is that how you fit? No. Okay, so this is good because everyone will have their own blueprint. So for Chris, when he is listening. Well, what does your intuition feel like for you? You sound like.
00:10:36:07 - 00:10:59:19
Chris
Okay. Is like, so I, I guess. Well that zoomed in really quick. So I think I backtrack story time. I was talking to a mentor of mine back in about 2001, so I was I was 21, and I was really learning about personal development and how to be the best person that I could be. And he said something really insightful.
00:10:59:19 - 00:11:44:08
Chris
It was something like, or paraphrase, but it's, just act. So just just act, just do it. Just get into it. And and so what that meant, what he meant by that was whatever you feel, just get into the habit of of following your instincts, your feelings and that sort of thing. Thing, and stuff. And, and then he said, but you know, when it's not your intuition because it'll, it'll not be value aligned and it will be, wrong or bad or naughty or evil, you know, like, if I have an instinct, Chris, go tackle that person and steal their wallet.
00:11:44:10 - 00:12:08:16
Chris
I might laugh in my head and then continue on that intrusive thought. Whereas if it's like, Chris, go press the, crossing Road button and link elbows with that old man and help him across the road. I try to follow those instincts in my life, and I think, by following that advice since I was 21.
00:12:08:16 - 00:12:31:22
Chris
So that is a long time ago now. That's that's how I roll. That's that's how I, I've just got into the habit of, of being open to promptings and intuition. And so now I just, I just open my mouth and whatever comes out comes out and I, my heart beats. And as it beats, I do whatever I do.
00:12:32:00 - 00:12:56:11
Chris
I just try not to hold myself back. And and over the last more than 21 years, I have tried to put that into practice. So that's what intuition means to me. And to teach that to somebody. I would say the same thing as my mentor says, like, well, follow in, follow your thoughts, do what you think. But as long as it's value aligned and you've got to be clear on what your values are.
00:12:56:13 - 00:13:17:19
Filly
I love that. So yeah, because I'm, I'm very kinaesthetic so very filling feely. And the way that Chris described that, that would be more, from the head, but not, not in a, I have to rationalise, make sense of all of this. It's actually like, oh, I had a little thought pop up. Oh, that's odd, but does it feel good?
00:13:17:19 - 00:13:42:18
Filly
Is it value aligned? Other clients that we've worked with have, who have gotten really good at listening to their intuition and having a relationship with this part, have said things like, it feels like it just feels right. I can't explain it, but it feels right. Some other people say things in their mind. So images, symbols, maybe even like visions that might sound a bit woohoo!
00:13:42:18 - 00:14:08:16
Filly
But like again, some people sub modality in the way that they learn and process is visually. And then some people have a full body. Visceral. Yes. Or some people get goosebumps. So so it's going to be like your blueprint for intuition is going to be different for everyone. And that is the journey. And the exciting part of like learning about yourself and about what's that part of you that wants the best for you.
00:14:08:18 - 00:14:35:17
Filly
How can you create a relationship with that part through knowing that part? Okay, so, so what happens when we override ourselves? So if we are not listening to this part of us, we're saying yes. When we want to say no, we're staying busy. When we want stillness, we're getting stuck on shooting or have dos or must do.
00:14:35:19 - 00:15:07:10
Filly
We're looking outside of ourselves for the right answer. I see this one a lot in the health industry, and I'll just, pause on this one for a moment. But it is like it goes right back to being condition from young, that when you get sick, you go to the doctor and you take the thing. So there's a lot of this still happening in the wellness and health industry, where many people are outsourcing the right answer to a practitioner or a coach or a therapist, who are playing the expert role.
00:15:07:12 - 00:15:35:04
Filly
And essentially that's keeping people stuck in disease and dysfunction. So in our like everything that we do in our ending body burnout method program, if you come along to our free rewire event, we will bang on about this as well. And in our retreats, healing body burnout at the deepest root cause level is becoming your own self healer, your own self communicator, your own self coach where the guides to help you to do that.
00:15:35:04 - 00:15:39:20
Filly
But whenever the expert of you. We can't be. It's impossible.
00:15:39:21 - 00:16:09:23
Chris
Have you ever noticed, like when you look at somebody and when you're listening to them, you might think they're full of it, you know? And just to get intentionally political here, you know, in 2020, when Covid hit the fan, there was a lot of stuff that was being said and a lot of fear. And, you know, it was just there were so many people saying things that was just a bunch of Bologna and and some.
00:16:10:00 - 00:16:37:07
Chris
I think what happened was a lot of people couldn't follow the intuition at that point because they lacked the words to to say, to express themselves. But there was a, there was a, a, a culture of putting you down because you feel something. And it was just like, follow the science, follow the facts. And what Philly and I are saying is that, yeah, follow the facts.
00:16:37:07 - 00:16:55:01
Chris
Sure do it. But when your intuition is telling you something. That's that's not a non fact. That is a fact. That is something that's really important. And, and I think that I think we're seeing a pendulum swing in bullcrap detection that people can really recession.
00:16:55:01 - 00:16:56:18
Filly
They're calling it in the online space.
00:16:56:19 - 00:17:20:06
Chris
Is it right. Yeah. That makes that that resonates. But yeah in this trust recession, I think people's bull bull crap detector is going off. We've got AI pretending to be human. And you watch, you watch it and you just know that it's something's off. And and I think we're about to have a boom. It's not about AI. I think we're about to have a boom in connection.
00:17:20:08 - 00:17:44:23
Filly
Yeah, yeah. And I mean like even that too. So if you're outsourcing your healing to an expert, like people are popping up overnight saying, I've got a course, do this course, they have no qualifications, but they're able to create it in 24 hours, using something like Claude to create a website and whip up some folio.
00:17:45:01 - 00:17:48:11
Chris
It's not even there. It's like a pretend video. Pretend photo.
00:17:48:12 - 00:18:16:16
Filly
So. So I mean, like, I actually think this conversation we're having today is even more pertinent in this day and age of if you do not learn to listen to the language of yourself and your intuition, and for that to be the guiding force of how you heal, how you work, how you play, how you find happiness and joy in alignment, it's going to be a wild ride from here.
00:18:16:18 - 00:18:36:06
Filly
There's going to be a lot more burnout. I really do believe that. And this is what happens. So when you're overriding this part of you and even it can be physiologically physiological as well, you could start overriding your impulse to eat or rest or pee or poop, or going to bed on time, or moving the body or getting off tech.
00:18:36:08 - 00:18:58:19
Filly
So this is all part of intuition as well. And when this is happening, body burnout is what will occur. Because you're living out of alignment with self. And so that will often bring feelings of resentful confusion, stuckness, exhaustion, because you're just like going around on the rat race trying to do the things, and you don't even know why you're doing them.
00:18:58:19 - 00:19:24:15
Filly
It's just because someone else told you to do them. That's always going to cause nervous system dysregulation. If you've been in a period of a lot of chronic stress, it can also put your brain into the Olympic system trauma loop. Again, we'll talk a lot more about that in our free rewire event. And then when your system is constantly in this status stress, your physical body systems will burn out and chronic health issues will show up.
00:19:24:17 - 00:19:56:03
Filly
It's what we see with every single client that starts working with us when we can peel back. How did this all start? This is how it starts. And so what this happens to is your the message. Your brain and body is receiving a message repeatedly that you're ignoring its signals. And then our brain learns from repeated experiences. So if you're repeating the experience of my signals don't matter now, it's unlikely that you're thinking this.
00:19:56:03 - 00:20:17:18
Filly
But this is what your body and your unconscious mind is experiencing. My signals don't matter. I have to override them. I have to keep going. Therefore, I cannot trust myself. And this lack of trust in self will. It perpetuates the body burnout cycle so it causes more danger to the brain. Nervous system, unconscious mind. It's like we can't be trusted.
00:20:17:18 - 00:20:42:14
Filly
We can't even trust ourselves. Then like, how are we going to survive in this world if we can't trust ourselves? And this speeds up self ignoring or self abandoning patterns, because what you believe to be true becomes your reality. So can you see how that cycle just perpetuates again and again and again? And it is why people struggle with chronic health issues for decades.
00:20:42:16 - 00:21:01:11
Filly
And this is why it's like when we want to get to the root of healing from body burnout and chronic health issues that are coming from a place of stress. We must learn to trust ourselves. And like the deepest part of this is trusting our own intuition.
00:21:01:13 - 00:21:26:05
Chris
I can, I can, I can I jump in real quick so some people will make decisions for their life from a, an insecure or a or a low vibe fear state. And and I don't think that's intuition. I think that's reaction. And and.
00:21:26:07 - 00:21:26:23
Filly
Yeah.
00:21:27:01 - 00:21:28:00
Filly
We will talk a bit more.
00:21:28:01 - 00:21:36:23
Chris
We're going to talk. Yeah. Cool. Because because I think there's, there's there's a high vibe and then there's a low vibe. Yeah.
00:21:37:00 - 00:21:39:00
Filly
Well, you know what? Let's just talk about it now.
00:21:39:01 - 00:21:39:09
Chris
Okay.
00:21:39:09 - 00:22:04:06
Filly
Cool. Yeah. Because there is a big difference between intuition and fear. So. And, you know, when we start talking to clients about, like, listening to yourself or your intuition or your heart or the deepest part of you that wants the best for you, we always get this question, but how do I know if it's intuition or just the anxious, fearful, or scarce part of me talking right now?
00:22:04:08 - 00:22:05:19
Chris
Yeah.
00:22:05:21 - 00:22:34:01
Filly
And so what I found is like, and I'm thinking about clients that we have worked with when they first joined our ending body burnout method program is there are some people that intuitively, they know that they need to work with us. They know that they can't rationalise it or logic it, but they just they had this intuitive feel or thought that it's like, this is where I need to be in this chapter of my health journey.
00:22:34:03 - 00:22:58:06
Filly
And, and so it's like the intuition is always there. It never it's never not there. It's there from the moment that you're born. But over time and we'll talk about why this happens in a moment. But over time, there's just layers and layers and layers of fear, uncertainty, anxiousness, indecision, distrust with self or the process of life.
00:22:58:08 - 00:23:17:19
Filly
And so then it can get really confusing. It's like, okay, so I joined the program, but now I'm like freaking out because like, oh, now there's like so much I have to do and I don't know if I can do it. And like, maybe I made the wrong decision and like, oh, maybe can I, can I pause, can I pause it until like next year when I am in a better place?
00:23:17:21 - 00:23:52:16
Filly
I mean, this is just one example. We have many different conversations in different situations. And so yeah, so anxiety can speak very loudly. And I really believe that if there's a lot of physical stuff going on where there's inflammation imbalances, it can be hard to hear the intuition. So it's like, let's support the physical body, let's calm the farm down, let's increase the energy, let's reduce the inflammation so you can listen to yourself better without all those physical signals screaming at you.
00:23:52:18 - 00:24:12:19
Filly
And along the journey to getting clear on patterns, getting clear on beliefs about self rewiring, creating trust with self. And then as you're going along that journey, and this is my experience as well, is it's much your ability to listen to your intuition and know that that's your intuition, and also have the trust to follow through with.
00:24:12:19 - 00:24:42:05
Filly
It gets easier and easier and easier. So if if you're kind of stuck in this like, oh, I don't know if it's intuition or fear talking. These are the ways that I discern if it's coming up in me. So intuition is quiet. It's often quiet. Anxiety is loud. It doesn't like when I say quiet. You could have a enlightenment experience of like, this is who I am, and this is what I need to do with my life.
00:24:42:05 - 00:25:04:16
Filly
But it's still a quiet knowing. It can feel expansive in the body. But versus anxiety is very loud from a mental point of view. And even like body systems point of view to if the nervous system is like freaking out, fear often demands certainty. It's like I need to be certain that this is the outcome that I'm going to get.
00:25:04:17 - 00:25:27:05
Filly
If I follow through on this. Versus intuition often leads you to uncertain and beautiful places. Intuition may say no. Even when something looks good on paper, fear can create endless mental loops, whereas intuition often feels like a knowing mental loop.
00:25:27:06 - 00:25:31:16
Chris
Hang on, I think you stumbled over that word you meant to say. Endless mental loop.
00:25:31:17 - 00:25:32:00
Filly
What did.
00:25:32:00 - 00:25:34:22
Chris
I say entered? I think.
00:25:34:23 - 00:25:50:17
Filly
It could be the same thing. Fear can create endless mental loops, whereas intuition often feels like a knowing rather than I constantly have to debate, is this a good idea or not? If the debate starts happening, it's often because there's a part of you. Your intuition is like, we should do this. And then fear is like.
00:25:50:17 - 00:25:54:00
Filly
No, we can't do that.
00:25:54:02 - 00:26:27:06
Filly
And yeah, sometimes intuition and fear can coexist. And if you are earlier on in your journey of reconnecting with self, they often will coexist. And again, as you're practising listening into that intuition, knowing how you speak to you, following through on that, it will get easier and easier to discern intuition versus fear. Do you have anything else to add to that?
00:26:27:08 - 00:26:53:14
Chris
I like to look for clues, so one of the clues I look for is or listen for actually is the language that's being used. For example, when somebody says have to need to got to should must they using slave language if you don't want to mean by slave language. A quick look through our past podcasts I'm talking about but yes.
00:26:53:14 - 00:27:34:22
Chris
So slave language really puts you as the victim and you've got no options. Victims have no agency. Victims can't choose because they're slaves. And so when you paint yourself as the victim, you're in a place of lack, not abundance. And and so, so when I'm listening to someone speak about what they want and following their instincts or their or their heart, I can tell when they're in a bit of a low vibe state because they're using not occasional, but they're, they're littered with, with should they should all over themselves as what what I like to think about it as and and so that's the first thing.
00:27:34:22 - 00:28:00:13
Chris
The other thing is there's, there's fear language and there's I'm not enough type, type language that that happens. So I listen. And so sometimes it's hard to listen to what you're saying. So that's why I'm, I'm a massive fan of journaling and writing things down or even dictating, you know, like you might use your phone and, do it, do a voice dictation, note.
00:28:00:15 - 00:28:23:01
Chris
And I think if you don't know what's don't what's the word, don't censor yourself. So get it out. Even if what you're about to say, you know, a part of you knows that that's poopoo thinking and it's really negative. Just get it out. Because maybe not all of you things like that, but there's a part of you that does think like that.
00:28:23:01 - 00:28:48:11
Chris
So. So I'm a big fan of just getting the stuff out of your head. All the parts, even the the bits that are negative thinking, get it out onto paper or into a note and then you can deal with it. Now it's in a format that you can actually self coach self self use. You know it's you're burned out already so you're wasting valuable mental resources.
00:28:48:11 - 00:28:56:20
Chris
Get it out of your head. Get it out of there onto paper. I think I've answered questions that I didn't even get asked. Just answer.
00:28:56:22 - 00:28:59:00
Filly
Well that's okay. It's about how to.
00:28:59:01 - 00:29:01:07
Chris
See what I mean. I just opened my mouth. That was.
00:29:01:09 - 00:29:02:00
Filly
There would be some.
00:29:02:00 - 00:29:04:01
Filly
More how to is in a moment.
00:29:04:03 - 00:29:34:03
Filly
But I did want to talk about why we stopped trusting our intuition in the first place. Because I think that this is important to know. Because we could end this podcast and just say, just start listening to yourself more. But I actually think that's really annoying, if not ineffective, advice because you need to underwire and unconditional and take down the walls around the intuition first before you can actually live your life being guided by your intuition.
00:29:34:05 - 00:30:02:01
Filly
So these are some common, reasons why we stop listening to ourselves. And it will be or to do with growing up. So what? You will learn it through family, school, religion, culture, relationships, work, health, experiences, the medical system. These are the four main. If I was to consolidate it into four main reasons why we stopped trusting ourselves.
00:30:02:03 - 00:30:25:20
Filly
Beyond, at some point you accuse yourself as something unkind and then, you know, we've got so many podcast episodes around unconscious core beliefs. But from a conditioning point of view, you have been taught to live in your head and have been living from your head for too long. And it's so common, like there's cultural conditioning to rely on the thinking mind in our Western culture.
00:30:25:22 - 00:30:27:20
Filly
Dark dark.
00:30:27:22 - 00:30:29:13
Filly
Does decades.
00:30:29:15 - 00:30:30:09
Filly
Philosopher.
00:30:30:13 - 00:30:33:11
Filly
Oh, hello. Pronounced his name right.
00:30:33:13 - 00:30:38:04
Chris
00:30:38:06 - 00:30:48:13
Chris
Oh. It's not discussed. It's Decatur. Oh, yeah. I get how to say his name. Just got.
00:30:48:15 - 00:30:54:05
Filly
I probably should have checked that before we started press play. That's okay. A philosopher.
00:30:54:07 - 00:30:56:18
Chris
How do you name leave us? Leave us a comment.
00:30:56:18 - 00:31:06:23
Filly
I remember I did philosophy at university in my first year of university and learnt this phrase. I think that's what I am.
00:31:07:01 - 00:31:08:23
Chris
Descartes. Yeah. Descartes.
00:31:09:00 - 00:31:10:10
Filly
Yeah, I should I said it right.
00:31:10:12 - 00:31:11:04
Chris
Is that what you said?
00:31:11:04 - 00:31:12:01
Filly
I think so.
00:31:12:03 - 00:31:12:15
Chris
Descartes.
00:31:12:16 - 00:31:49:10
Filly
So I mean, in his philosophy, in what year was it? 1596. Okay. This is going like hundreds of years back. He wrote that. Yeah. I think therefore I am. So if I don't think I don't exist, and therefore the essence of my very being is thinking. And this then created a whole tradition in science, health, even like spirituality, to a point where we put so much emphasis on the thinking mind and that is where we live from.
00:31:49:12 - 00:32:12:16
Filly
And I mean, we see that in masculine versus feminine energies as well. A lot of people, women and men, end up in that very strong, masculine mind of like, it has to be rational, it has to make sense. And so essentially, if you've been living from your head majority of the time as your default, you're going to be overthinking over analysing, trying to work everything out.
00:32:12:18 - 00:32:39:16
Filly
And you might have become really good at figuring things out, but not at feeling what you intuitively know. So, that alone can block your ability to be able to really tap into the your intuition. Also a really common sign of being stuck in fight flight or the limbic system brain trauma loop, can be that we get stuck in our mind, in the monkey mind.
00:32:39:16 - 00:33:03:15
Filly
The amygdala takes over and it's constantly on high alert. It's hyper vigilant, trying to figure everything out. Is this safe? Is this dangerous? Is this safe? Is this dangerous? It's trying to control everything as a way to stay safe. And so this part of the brain, which really causes you to start ruminating and overthinking and over analysing and over controlling, stays on.
00:33:03:17 - 00:33:36:02
Filly
And so, yeah, this can be a huge reason why we stop listening to our selves and our intuition. Another reason can be you've been protecting yourself for a long point, a long point of time. So at some point you learned it was safe and not to feel everything. And this could look like in your childhood. Maybe you were the kid that was told your emotions were too much, like you felt too much, or maybe you cried too much, and so you actually learnt to shut down.
00:33:36:03 - 00:34:05:17
Filly
This part of you, this more intuitive, feminine part of you, because you were told off for it. And so in order to stay safe and to be protected and to stay in the tribe, you shut that down. You might have also experienced a lot of pain and trauma, distress growing up. And, and you felt too much like it was too painful to feel emotion or experience in the body.
00:34:05:21 - 00:34:40:13
Filly
And so this part can shut down it as well. So then, I mean, I see this in a group like a theme of clients is that they've put an armour around their heart and their emotions and their ability to trust themselves and to know that intuition. And so they've shut that feeling down for a long time, put armour around their heart or intuition, and have either soldiered on saying I'm fine, or trying to figure everything out through their mind or constantly dissociating.
00:34:40:15 - 00:35:05:15
Filly
Now the problem is, like the more armour that you put around this part of you. Yes, you might keep the painful stuff out, but you're also keeping out beautiful emotions and feelings of peace and joy and happiness and your ability to live in alignment. Another really common reason why people disconnect from that intuition is because they've disconnected from what they want.
00:35:05:19 - 00:35:27:20
Filly
So you might have had experiences in the past where especially growing up, where you weren't allowed to have a voice. Maybe you were the kid that were that said, I want to be a dancer. I want to be a rock star. And your parents are like, that won't make money. Go to university and do something that will make you money.
00:35:27:22 - 00:35:55:11
Filly
Or. Yeah, you might have been, kind of condition that you have to achieve. You have to produce, you have to be productive. And so your wants and your dreams and desires were shut down. Or maybe you have tried a bunch of things and you feel like you've failed them and then it's like, oh, well, it's easier not to want or to dream or to desire.
00:35:55:14 - 00:36:21:02
Filly
And so therefore I will shut this part down to me as well. This part of me that's constantly like guiding me to something new, something different, something bigger, something more expansive. It's like, that's not safe. Because I've tried that, done that, didn't get to where I want to go. It caused pain. So shut down to that. And so this often then leads to the shooting that Chris was talking about.
00:36:21:04 - 00:36:38:08
Filly
This type of person often starts living their life based on what they feel like they should be doing, what makes sense, what everyone else thinks, or what makes you feel like a good or a productive person. And then the fourth reason.
00:36:38:10 - 00:37:14:00
Chris
I was just going to do a little quote I this this goes in my head. It's not very it's not literal. But the author did mean it literally. So David Data, in his book The Way of the Superior Man, he, he has a chapter, a real short one on living as though your father is dead. And and I think that's something that we can do is not to to kill our dads, but to to to kill off that that expectation of others.
00:37:14:02 - 00:37:51:22
Chris
Of which the, the, the father figure in this example is more of like a metaphor. And so if we can decide on our own path, decide means to kill off choices, side being to kill or cut off, and decide means to kill off or eliminate choices. So if we can decide on a, on a choice or a plan of approach based on our own intuition, this is the principle of living as a your father, or living as though other people are dead, you know, like they're not there anymore.
00:37:52:00 - 00:38:15:19
Filly
Yeah, yeah. And something else that I forgot to mention in you've shut down. Your desire to want is you also might have grown up in an environment where there are a lot of rules. So it's like in order for you to be a good person or a productive person or a successful person, you have to do this, this and this.
00:38:15:21 - 00:38:16:19
Filly
And so, you know.
00:38:17:01 - 00:38:17:22
Filly
Some people.
00:38:18:00 - 00:38:42:04
Filly
Thrive with rules. Other people, it can become really it can cause like fear or it's almost like, well, I have to do these things because if I don't do them, then I'm a bad person or I'm going to fail in some way. And so that's useful to know too, because then.
00:38:42:06 - 00:39:08:16
Filly
Again, like that's where you start doing based on what you've been told. And you don't question it. As decades continue until your body is questioning it, you will get signs and symptoms at some point that it's like, I don't think like living by these rules or working for me anymore. Yeah. Okay. Last one. You. You've been focussed on staying safe and sustainable.
00:39:08:16 - 00:39:35:18
Filly
So this is the number four reason why you have become disconnected with self and intuition. And I see this really commonly in people who have experienced body burnout and chronic health issues for a long time. So if you've been on a health journey for like, more than maybe like a year, your whole life can get really tied up in trying to keep everything safe, everything sustainable, balanced, in control.
00:39:35:20 - 00:39:58:01
Filly
Knowing your capacity, putting in boundaries, regulating, resting, learning what works for you and all this is great. Like nothing. Nothing's wrong till it is. Nothing's right until it is. So again, I feel like there's definitely a place for really understanding. Like to create safety within you and putting in boundaries and knowing your capacity. You're not going beyond capacity.
00:39:58:06 - 00:40:20:23
Filly
But if this has been a repetitive experience for longer than I'd even say six months, you can shut off this part of you that wants the best for you, that is really like helping you to feel alive because you're so caught up in trying to stay safe so you don't have any symptoms that you forget how to live.
00:40:21:00 - 00:40:48:22
Filly
And I was there too, like for many, many years. That was my reality. And, you know, I could manage my symptoms pretty well. But at some point it was like. But I'm I still don't feel alive. Like I still don't feel happy and joyful and expansive and free and playful. And so part of my journey was then rewiring what I'd created as part of my health journey that had kept me safe, but it kept me in a safe prison.
00:40:49:00 - 00:41:10:11
Filly
And so it was like finding that key to unlock the prison door and actually like listening to my intuition, my heart, the deepest part of me that wants the best for me. And it's been wonderful, like it's led to some really beautiful experiences in my life and our family's life over the past year. Going on a four week camping trip, which was pretty impromptu.
00:41:10:15 - 00:41:30:14
Filly
We decided to do it and then three weeks later were on the boat and heading up Australia. I was in a musical production this year with Chris. We ran our first retreat. I'm going to all aru. Like, these are all the things that are expanding open to me, because I've got out of that prison of trying to stay safe.
00:41:30:16 - 00:41:42:12
Filly
And it's. And because I trust my intuition, because I've had experience now that when I follow it, only good things happen, even if it feels scary, even if it's like, oh, I couldn't do that.
00:41:42:15 - 00:41:46:01
Filly
Oh, how how could I make that work? Oh.
00:41:46:02 - 00:42:06:11
Filly
What if x, y, z happens? That's the fear coming in, dropping back down into my heart, listening to my intuition following through. I now know, hand on heart, that that is only going to lead to more joy, play or wonder, love, aliveness. And there may be some challenges along the way, and I'm okay with that because that's growth.
00:42:06:13 - 00:42:29:23
Chris
Just in regards to the comfort zone, I think our the the edge, you know, there's a, there's this tipping point of where it's safe or unsafe and and, and that is our edge right there. And the, the edge is always going to be outside of our comfort zone. And so growth happens outside of the comfort zone as well.
00:42:29:23 - 00:42:51:10
Chris
And so sometimes we can feel anxious and afraid because we're stepping out of our comfort zone, but our intuition is telling us to go there like we're going to we will. We're being called to a place that's close to the edge, not over the edge, but it's close to the edge. It's out of our comfort zone. And so that's that's where the growth is.
00:42:51:11 - 00:43:01:15
Chris
And just to reflect on what you've mentioned about things that we've done recently, some of them have been if.
00:43:01:17 - 00:43:02:18
Filly
Right up to the edge.
00:43:02:19 - 00:43:10:05
Chris
Right. Yeah. They feel like they, they have and and I think if we were to rewind a few years, they, they really would have been.
00:43:10:06 - 00:43:21:15
Filly
Oh, they would have been the edge for me. There's no way I would have been able to do ten shows over two weeks and late nights and bright lights and being like in a high nervous system.
00:43:21:15 - 00:43:42:00
Chris
State, like, I think that edge can shift as well. But the point is, you have to get out of your comfort zone. You have you, but be safe. Don't go over the edge. But but get out of your comfort zone. And if your intuition is calling you, there are the that's cool that there's going to be something cool.
00:43:42:00 - 00:43:45:20
Chris
It's going to be really hard. It's going to be challenging for you. But yeah, something.
00:43:45:20 - 00:43:47:06
Filly
Going to be more life giving.
00:43:47:07 - 00:44:12:05
Chris
Yeah. You're gonna you get something cool is going to happen. And that's exciting. So so when someone speaks to me in terms of I'm out of my comfort zone, I feel really I feel triggered, I feel hurt, I feel, maybe even ashamed or or something like that. I go, yeah, cool, cool. Okay. Yeah. Cool. Which is a very different reaction to, to what some people are expecting.
00:44:12:05 - 00:44:31:07
Chris
They might be like, oh, you poor thing. Get safe, get back. But I'm like, oh, are you okay? Are you safe? Yes. Okay. Cool. That's off the table. Let's, let's let's explore this because your intuition and your instincts are calling you somewhere. Yeah.
00:44:31:09 - 00:44:54:01
Filly
Okay. So how do we get out intuition back? I mean, I said this before, you might be listening to this and say, okay, I'll just start listening to my intuition more. But if your brain has spent a new nervous system and your in conscious mind has spent 20, 30, 40 plus years learning that your intuition isn't trustworthy, that's where rewiring comes in.
00:44:54:03 - 00:45:16:10
Filly
And before you can even rewire, you have to unwind. So you need you can 100% start listening to yourself ASAP. But at the same time, in order for this to be really effective, you need to update and rewire old patterns that made. It has made it really difficult to trust yourself. And we do this inside our ending body burnout method.
00:45:16:10 - 00:45:29:03
Filly
So the doors are open to the waitlist on 1st of October, and there'll be a full, beautiful month of being able to join. But if you do join earlier, you do get those bonuses.
00:45:29:05 - 00:45:30:04
Filly
And what.
00:45:30:04 - 00:45:48:08
Filly
This looks like at a deeper level is we help you to get to the root root cause of body burnout to that a deeper fear that you have about yourself that has caused a broken trust with self and to come back to self and the body knows what you want and what you need. So it's always working with your intuition.
00:45:48:08 - 00:46:11:21
Filly
So even if you've got some horrible, frustrating, really annoying, debilitating symptoms, know that this deep is part of you that wants the best for you, is working with your body to try to bring you back to alignment with self. So there is. So we're going to stop hating on the symptoms and loving them, because this is what we teach our clients inside our program.
00:46:11:21 - 00:46:55:05
Filly
Work with the body as a way of learning how to work with and know and live from your deeper self. And as I mentioned before, we do have a free rewire four part, coaching workshops that we're going to deliver over four weeks. So rewire your brain to heal body burnout. And if you are really resonating with the intuition side of things, and I highly recommend coming to our Heart Meets Land Retreat, because we will go much deeper into tapping into your heart's knowing and your intuition, and it's going to be a beautiful chance to slow down, to create space with self, to immerse in nature, which I think really helps to connect in
00:46:55:05 - 00:46:58:11
Filly
with that intuition.
00:46:58:13 - 00:47:26:05
Filly
And we'll just end with some some coaching questions, and you might pause this or come back to these coaching questions and do some journaling around them. But these coaching questions can be really helpful to tap into your intuition. So where in your life are you already knowing but not listening? What do you already know? What are you pretending not to know?
00:47:26:07 - 00:47:47:23
Filly
Where are you? Or ever writing yourself? And what are you doing because you feel like you should be doing it? What does your body keep asking for. And what would you choose if you trusted yourself?
00:47:48:01 - 00:47:48:19
Chris
Have that.
00:47:49:00 - 00:47:57:09
Filly
Have that. Enjoy.
00:47:57:11 - 00:48:07:13
Filly
