00:00:56:23 - 00:01:11:10
Chris
G'day! Welcome to this episode of the Ending Body Burnout Show. Today on this episode, we will be chatting about our wonderful retreat that we just had, the Body Noise retreat and it was such a magical, awesome time.
00:01:11:11 - 00:01:46:12
Filly
It was so awesome and it's been about a week since we finished that up, and I'm still feeling it in my body. And yeah, I'm just a little bit high on Happy Juice from it. So we thought we'd open up the curtains, give you a little bit of behind the scenes less from This is what we did on day one, and this is what we did on day two, and this is what we did on day three and more around the personal insights and and shifts that I and Chris, you can add in all your bits and pieces as well experience during the retreat.
00:01:46:13 - 00:02:10:12
Filly
And we are really excited to because we've got a few retreat. Is Body Whisperers coming onto the podcast over the next few weeks to share their personal experience inside the retreat as well. So I think it'll be a really lovely way for you to get a feel of the magic that happened inside the body knows, because the magic is really different for every person.
00:02:10:12 - 00:02:26:11
Filly
Although we went on a collective journey together, everyone's individual journeys were very different and transformational in their own ways. So yeah, I'm so excited for you to hear all these stories.
00:02:26:15 - 00:02:29:15
Chris
Awesome. All right. Well, let's let's dive in.
00:02:29:16 - 00:02:52:07
Filly
Yeah. So if you've been following along on my personal journey via social podcast, you'll know that I started dreaming up the Body Nose Retreat almost a year ago, but I had to break through a bunch of my own subconscious blocks to actually put it out into the world. And if you wanted to, like, go deep into what that actually felt like, looked like, sounded like, you can head to the show notes.
00:02:52:07 - 00:03:21:05
Filly
It's episode 163 where I talk about the subconscious blocks I needed to work through. Well, as Chris just said, we have ran our very first retreat and I am so glad that I listen to my heart and work through my blocks. Because honestly, like this in-person healing experience was everything I dreamed of, plus so much more. And I'm trying to find the right words to capture the magic that unfolded over the body.
00:03:21:05 - 00:03:42:23
Filly
Knows. I've had a lot of people say, how did the retreat go? And I feel it in my body when they ask me the question, but I haven't really been able to articulate it in words. Besides, it was awesome and I just want to cry. So I really feel like some things are deeply felt in the body and the heart.
00:03:43:01 - 00:04:18:22
Filly
That words just can't express. But I really wanted to try and express it three words in this podcast episode today, so you can really get a feel and an understanding of of what happened inside the body, nose and specifically, yeah, we'll dive into deeper shifts and insights that we experienced on the retreat. So number one shift for me was, as I mentioned in previous episodes, I talked about the subconscious blocks I needed to break through, which I did put it out into the world.
00:04:18:22 - 00:04:47:11
Filly
Chris was amazing at creating a beautiful retreat landing page where people could book in. It took you like a good week and a lot of work, and it was beautiful and it reflected what was going to happen at the retreat. But that was there were more things that I needed to work through. So once I was out into the world and people started booking in to the retreat, I had some feels coming up again.
00:04:47:13 - 00:05:20:21
Filly
One thing that started showing up as a theme was I was going through an identity shift. So previously in our business, my identity, I guess from a business point of view, was like, I'm a one on one practitioner and transformational coach, and I run online workshops. It's very different going from that to holding space for many days in person, with a group of people living and breathing each other's air.
00:05:20:23 - 00:05:53:13
Filly
And so I had a couple of things showing up and the, the two limiting beliefs or blocks or stories that I had was around capacity. It's like, can I do I have enough capacity to be able to hold space at it, this intensity for this many days and also the lead up to getting there. And I was kind of nervous because we had a photo shoot and we used some of those images for the retreat at a different location.
00:05:53:13 - 00:06:22:17
Filly
But during the photo shoot, like the whole week leading up to this photo shoot, knowing that. Oh, okay. We're about to put this retreat out into the world. I did not sleep very well at all, and I remember thinking like during that experience and after the photo shoot, it's like far out. Like if my mind and body is so activated about this retreat, I mean, so this photo shoot, imagine what is going to happen to my body and my mind leading up to the actual retreat.
00:06:22:17 - 00:06:44:09
Filly
So there was a little bit of fear around, will I be able to have the capacity to be able to hold space? So that was one thing that was happening. And I'll dive a bit deeper into what that looked like. And the other thing, which I had never publicly shared until the very last day of the retreat, was the socialising part of the retreat.
00:06:44:11 - 00:07:21:03
Filly
So I, and an introverted heart. I love solo time. I really crave downtime, quiet time. I know in the past, like as a kid and a teenager, there were a lot of stories around. I just, you know, being shy, not being very good at socialising, not being great at peopling. So that was actually coming up to the surface and it needed to be looked at, which was interesting, but not that weird because it's like, well, I'm going to be peopling as the retreat leader in host.
00:07:21:05 - 00:07:55:01
Filly
And, and I want to show up for the people that are coming and I want to be there for them. And I don't want to just, like, duck away every time I can get some alone time. Because actually, that isn't going to be a possibility with this type of retreat anyway. So I had some dreams coming up, and I'm always curious about my dreams these days because they, I actually feel like dreams are basically your subconscious mind processing what's happening beneath the surface.
00:07:55:01 - 00:08:12:14
Filly
And sometimes it's because there might be a bit of a trauma loop happening and the subconscious mind is holding onto it, and sometimes it can actually be a really beautiful gift from the subconscious mind that it's like, you've got this. So I had some dreams coming up. One reoccurring one was I was back in high school and I had I had a baby.
00:08:12:17 - 00:08:40:23
Filly
So I'm like a teen mom with a baby. And I rocked up to high school and there was no shame around having the baby. So it wasn't kind of like, I'm so embarrassed and awkward that, like, you know, I've had this baby or like, I'm wrong in any way. It was more that I was trying to figure out how to fit into this group of friends while holding a baby, and there were some themes around that I kept calling the retreat that we were creating, my baby.
00:08:40:23 - 00:09:01:22
Filly
It's like this, this is, this is. I'm birthing this into the world. There are a lot of like, baby and birth metaphors. So the dream was interesting in that it was just like, I felt like there was an identity shift happening underneath the surface. And also my body was speaking to me and has been for a while with some lower back pain.
00:09:02:01 - 00:09:24:17
Filly
So I knew that there were just some things that were being activated because the retreat was outside of my comfort zone. It was a new thing. We'd never done it before. It was a new level of growth. And so with any new level of growth, often the subconscious mind, Brandon nervous system can have a little bit of a freak out moment where, it's it's a bit worried.
00:09:24:17 - 00:09:46:04
Filly
It's like, oh, this is uncertain. Are we going to be able to do this? We haven't done this before. And that's for me. And what we teach to our clients inside our ending body. Burnout method with every new level of growth, if patterns are showing up, trying to get your attention, they're worth looking at and working through to create internal safety again.
00:09:46:06 - 00:10:35:02
Filly
So this stuff was happening, the dreams were coming up and something that really helped me to move through. What was showing up was dancing on the beach, and it was a practice that I really wanted to do on the last day of the retreat, which we did do, and it was, and I was kind of nervous about it as well, because again, being predominantly online, you know, we'll hold workshops like this, but it's kind of like it's less intimidating leading something that is very movement based on screen, when other people like, might have their videos off or they can't see the full of you, or if people aren't participating, you don't feel so weird.
00:10:35:02 - 00:11:01:04
Filly
I shouldn't say you. I don't feel so weird. And so I knew that I wanted to do it, and I created a really beautiful playlist. And this playlist was also all about just dropping out of your head, into your body and really connecting into who you want to be, who you already are, and your next steps. Like really like bringing your dream and your vision to life by moving it through the body.
00:11:01:06 - 00:11:24:15
Filly
And this was a game changer for me to listen to this podcast, sorry, this playlist that I created regularly, and dancing the retreat vision into my body and really feeling into this is how I want to show up as the retreat leader. And this is what I want to have happen. And this is the emotional state that I want to feel and that I want to help other people to feel.
00:11:24:15 - 00:11:51:01
Filly
And this is the transformation that's going to happen for individual people. And it was really clear in my mind and my body, because by then we our retreat had sold out. So I knew all the people that were coming. And when I was visualising and dancing, how I wanted this retreat to come forth and to be, it was so solidified in my mind and my body because I knew who would be there and I knew their stories.
00:11:51:01 - 00:12:24:00
Filly
And so this is beautiful. And something else that I did when I say I danced along the beach, I didn't care. There was a part of me that was just like, oh, people are going to see me dancing. Strangers, people I don't know. And I was just like, cool. If I want to show up with leadership, with confidence in this retreat experience, I'm going to dance in front of strangers and I'm going to, like, lean into the discomfort of that and let it go.
00:12:24:00 - 00:12:59:18
Filly
And it was an absolute joy dancing on the beach. So if you don't do that already, I would highly encourage you to do that. I did a lot of self coaching as well, and also coaching with one of my coaches, Jamin, and also conversations that Chris and I had, which was great. And then also I have been seeing a local lady called Shona who does intuitive body work, and this is when I really feel like my body is feeling really activated, and it needs to come back down to the ground and to regulate.
00:12:59:18 - 00:13:35:02
Filly
And so one of the sessions was really interesting because when she was feeling into my energy, she's like, oh, have you had I think she even said, have you had a miscarriage in the past? And I'm like, yes. In fact, I felt like I have worked through that. And I explained to her about the breathwork experience that I had that I shared on the podcast episode that I mentioned at the start of this episode, and how that was a really big piece of me being able to.
00:13:35:04 - 00:13:56:08
Filly
Not just like, let go of the fear of losing something. So there was a metaphor around my past miscarriage in this retreat, and that if I put this retreat into the world and no one books in, that's like deep loss and deep sadness that I would have had. And so that breathwork session helped me to move through that.
00:13:56:08 - 00:14:33:12
Filly
And also something that breathwork session also really like reminded me was it was the first time in my life that a group of women came around me to support me. And during this intuitive body work session, I didn't feel like there was anything else that needed to be worked on around that past event. But the gift of it coming up in that session was that it reminded me in a really strong, powerful way that, like the power of women coming together to support another person or one another.
00:14:33:13 - 00:15:00:07
Filly
And so I was just able to connect again into like, this is where my heart keeps asking for this retreat, because there's something really special that happens when a group of people come in person over multiple days. Magic can really happen. So that yeah, solidified that also because of all my own personal growth and healing, I, I can be this woman for other people now.
00:15:00:08 - 00:15:34:09
Filly
I can hold space for these other women. Just like when I was a young, married mother and lost the baby. These otherwise women came to support me. Something else that came through that bodywork, intuitive bodywork. Session two was word that said that I felt was, you've got this girl. And it was kind of like, you've got this girl, like you've created this retreat, you're enough, you've done enough.
00:15:34:09 - 00:16:05:21
Filly
It's going to be great. And Shona felt it or heard it as well. And she's like, oh, that's interesting. I remember Shona said I was expecting something really like feminine and soft to come through, but it's like you've got this girl and I'm like, and that's actually something like self-talk that I have had to myself often, especially when I need to like get into a state that is more vibrant, more alive, get into like more of a momentum motivation state.
00:16:05:21 - 00:16:26:16
Filly
You've got this girl, and then I'll go and do the thing or be the person that I want to be. So all of that was, just like a small part of how I moved through some things that were coming up in order to be able to deliver the retreat.
00:16:26:18 - 00:16:51:15
Filly
And that you got this girl is interesting as well, because that came through so strongly before the retreat into my mind and my body. I used that as a saying for different people when I felt that they needed to hear it. Like, you've got this girl, you've got this girl. I don't reckon anyone would have recognised or remembered that I did that, but I felt that coming through me.
00:16:51:16 - 00:17:34:14
Filly
The day before the retreat, first part of the day was really just like picking things up from the shop. But overall I was feeling really organised. I was feeling really prepared. I booked myself in for a hot stone massage just to really, like, love myself up and build my capacity and help to regulate myself. And then I went to The Cove, Tasmania, where the retreat was held, and I spent a couple of hours literally sitting on the deck, watching the ocean and meditating and just really meditating on the sky, the waves crashing, the birds chirping.
00:17:34:15 - 00:17:59:16
Filly
And it was so beautiful. And that experience was really lovely for me. Not just the experience of it itself, but the fact that I felt so grounded and so prepared allowed me to just relax and surrender into all the work that we had done leading up to the retreat.
00:17:59:18 - 00:18:32:06
Filly
Now then things changed. I didn't sleep that first night before the retreat and also the two other nights. Well, we had the retreat. I didn't sleep great and there were a few environmental things, like the pillow wasn't very comfortable and the ocean was crashing. We had a beautiful villa right on the edge of the ocean and big black rocks that the ocean was crashing onto, and there were penguins everywhere, beautiful little penguins which were amazing.
00:18:32:06 - 00:19:09:14
Filly
And the little baby penguins just screeched for their parents all night. So there were some environmental noises and a little bit of discomfort. But also I could just feel in my mind, in my body that there was excitement, anticipation. What was really interesting is that even though I didn't sleep great, I laid in bed listening to the ocean and to the penguins and even to my own thoughts, and I felt a really deep sense of calm within which if I'd gone back even six months ago, I would have hated that experience.
00:19:09:14 - 00:19:36:17
Filly
I would have been like, oh, damn it. Why am I not sleeping? I've got a retreat that I need to hold. I need to, like, be energetic and I need to feel my best and show up. It was my best version of myself, and I would have really felt a lot of anger towards my body and lack of sleep because of the big thing we were about to do.
00:19:36:17 - 00:20:09:02
Filly
And so that was a really big shift for me. I didn't even force myself to remain calm. It was just like this deep, grounded, knowing that I had done enough and that I was enough, and that I had more than enough within my little finger to hold space for this retreat. Even if I woke up tired and a little bit more ring clear than usual, it may be a bit more sora than usual because of poor sleep.
00:20:09:04 - 00:20:42:04
Filly
So that was that was just like a really big personal insight for me of like, growth and change. And also, I really do feel like because I didn't have awesome sleep, I feel like I actually showed up softer and slower during the retreat, which is really want to what I wanted to encompass from like an emotional and an energetic state of being more feminine, more softer, more open to receiving, allowing people to other other people to receive.
00:20:42:05 - 00:20:52:01
Filly
So in a way, my body actually gave me that gift as well.
00:20:52:03 - 00:21:08:09
Filly
I don't know if you want to. I mean, not that you experienced me during before all that, or if you had your own things leading up to it.
00:21:08:11 - 00:21:11:04
Chris
I.
00:21:11:05 - 00:21:34:12
Chris
I feel like for my experience, like in terms of this being a project, this was something that that I, I think of my life in, in terms of projects and milestones. And I do this and then I do this and I do this. And if it's not aligned with who I want to be and the direction of my life, then I feel a lot of resistance.
00:21:34:12 - 00:21:56:20
Chris
I feel a lot of, discomfort. And I don't like it. Anyway. I, I feel like this was just a it was a nice project to work on. It was aligned with, with my the direction I wanted to go in my life. And I didn't have any adverse stuff leading up to it. It was sweet.
00:21:56:20 - 00:22:02:12
Filly
So you're my support for lesson.
00:22:02:14 - 00:22:06:18
Chris
Was that. That's probably boring. It's like, yeah, I didn't have any problems.
00:22:06:19 - 00:22:15:18
Filly
Well, well, well, I think the difference between my experience and your experience is it was it was like, I'll use the word baby again. Like that feed.
00:22:15:19 - 00:22:20:13
Chris
Way easier for a guy to give birth than his wife. Well.
00:22:20:13 - 00:22:43:06
Filly
The seed, the seed was planted in my heart. Even though we've had conversations like, even like ten years ago. Jade, it'd be really cool to, like, hold a retreat one day. The the vision was implanted in my heart. And so there was more, not more at stake. But like, it wasn't just a project to me. It was me showing up as a full expression of self.
00:22:43:10 - 00:23:02:18
Filly
And so that's probably why I had a bunch of things showing up before it, because it's like, this is really meaningful, and this is like me growing into the next version of myself. Whereas for you, it's like, I support you, Filly. It's aligned. Super excited to do it. Give me the things I need to do.
00:23:02:20 - 00:23:14:22
Chris
Yeah, just like giving birth. Just like giving birth. Yeah. Just show up. Don't miss the appointment to be there. Hold hands, cheer on, mop, mop the brow.
00:23:14:23 - 00:23:16:07
Filly
Of the brow.
00:23:16:09 - 00:23:17:03
Chris
Don't get in the way.
00:23:17:04 - 00:23:19:08
Filly
Make sure the tech is working.
00:23:19:10 - 00:23:20:19
Chris
Yeah, yeah. Do the.
00:23:20:19 - 00:23:23:18
Filly
Pretty thing. Make the pretty online things.
00:23:23:20 - 00:23:30:01
Chris
Fix the stuff, do the things. Yeah. No, it was good. I enjoyed it, it was good. Gave me a job.
00:23:30:03 - 00:23:55:22
Filly
Yeah. On Friday night, that was the first night of the retreat. We had the wonderful Simon Hamilton come in to do a breathwork session. And previous to that, Chris led a workshop on Leaning In, which was part of the align framework or journey that we took the clients on. So a lion stands for awareness, lean in, insights, grounding and navigation.
00:23:55:22 - 00:24:13:11
Filly
So taking what what is the body been trying to say to you and guiding people through that journey? So the Linen workshop was really pivotal to then move into the breathwork session. Do you want to talk like a little bit about what leaning in actually means? And also can you share the Cliff story?
00:24:13:13 - 00:24:18:11
Chris
Yeah. Okay. So.
00:24:18:12 - 00:24:44:01
Chris
Let's start with the Cliff story first. I was I was in Wollongong and I was on those beautiful cliffs, not the not the escarpment, the ones down near the, near the ocean. And I was looking out over the ocean. I was like, man, this would be a great spot for a panoramic photo. This was back in 2000, early parts of year 2000.
00:24:44:03 - 00:25:08:07
Chris
So my camera was like a. You know, one of those ones, old school. And so I jumped the fence, bush bashed a little bit, went through the went through the trees, and I got to the very edge of the cliff. And I thought, oh, man, it's just I just want to get a little bit further. I want to see a little bit better.
00:25:08:08 - 00:25:41:22
Chris
I want, I want more, I want, I want, I want more. And so I crept and crept and crept and I crept too far and I slipped. I slipped down the edge of the of the cliff. And I got right, right, right to the edge where my feet were like 50 100m. However, told those bull cliffs, they were very, very high and and I was about to, I was about to fall and I thought, okay, well here we go.
00:25:41:23 - 00:26:10:13
Chris
And I'm praying and I'm like digging my fingertips into the, into the cliff, into the dirt, into the rock. And then I started to like, slowly climb up and I slipped again and, and I'm like, oh man, I if I fall, this is not, not great. And then I grabbed onto this piece of grass and it was the strongest piece of grass that I've ever seen and felt in my life.
00:26:10:13 - 00:26:37:17
Chris
I grabbed onto it and I, I used that really pathetic piece of grass to, like, pull myself up or to help me get up over the edge and get back to the top. And I got the photos. I got the photos. They were like, click, click, click. In my photo album, I've got like this panoramic. You put them all together and it's quite beautiful.
00:26:37:19 - 00:27:03:04
Chris
Jump back over the fence. And my friend was there and he's like, oh, there you are, far out. I was going to drive off without you. I thought you'd gone. I'm like, yeah, I nearly went. So that was a I used that as a metaphor for sometimes when we get too close to the edge, we go over the edge and a line stands for, as Fili said, awareness, leaning in insights, grounding navigation.
00:27:03:06 - 00:27:29:14
Chris
Before you can bring your life on track, you need to. You need to align. You need to to figure out where you've gone off track, what's not okay for you, what's not right for you. And and you realign yourself. And before you can even do that, you need to get awareness. And so sometimes in the search for not rightness or search for why am I stuck?
00:27:29:18 - 00:27:51:06
Chris
You know, we might notice that there's an edge, there's a line in the sand that or a cliff. That's it's just too far for us, for our nervous systems. We we feel unsafe. We might even dislike it. We might have an aversion to it. We want to run away from it. We might even hate it. It might be just disgusting for us.
00:27:51:08 - 00:28:21:06
Chris
Some examples of what I'm talking about are we might feel some sort of sensation and it might be an uncomfortable sensation, or we might be in a situation that's really emotional or for some other reason something's irritating or frustrating. We like to use the acronym fuses frustrations, uncomfortable sensations, emotional situations, and sometimes we blow our fuse. And when we when we notice our fuses are blown, there's an edge.
00:28:21:08 - 00:28:29:03
Chris
And some people will manage or they'll mask or they'll they'll Medicaid or they'll suppress it. Repress it.
00:28:29:06 - 00:28:30:18
Filly
Void. Run away.
00:28:30:19 - 00:29:09:04
Chris
Run away. Yeah, all this sort of stuff. And they don't actually allow themselves to be where they're at. They stay not present. They they escape and they miss out on the insights that their body and that their life is actually trying to provide for them, that there is unconscious wisdom that they're avoiding in that they're ignoring. And so the most essential part, after being aware that you've blown a fuse, it's to lean in, to go to the edge without falling over the edge and catastrophically having some sort of unsafe event.
00:29:09:06 - 00:29:35:19
Chris
It's to lean into it and stay back far enough that you feel safe. And we had a couple of people on the on the retreat that felt like there was the edge was right there. They were right at the edge. And we had some people who who were able to use this concept to to just creep a little bit closer, lean in a little bit more and actually get to the edge.
00:29:35:21 - 00:29:57:21
Chris
Whereas they those the second type person was back well and truly behind the boundary. And then there was a couple of other people who felt like they were more like me on the cliff holding onto the grass. And so yeah, depending on where you are in that leaning in state, you might need to back it up. Calm down.
00:29:58:01 - 00:30:27:13
Chris
But then once you do lean in, you get this beautiful opportunity that you can have insight because now you can do some digging. Now you can look underneath the behaviours that you've got, the behaviours of your body, the behaviours in your life. And you can look for those beliefs that are underneath and you can look at how you actually view yourself, why you blew your fuses in the first place, why this is actually something that you want, why you're here, what's your role in the mess?
00:30:27:16 - 00:30:53:09
Chris
How can you take responsibility? And so when you when you do that awareness, then you lean in, you get those insights. But then it's then you're at this point where you can be up in your head and you can start really thinking and thinking and thinking. And so grounding is a really lovely way that you can come back down, get into your body, get out of your head, get into your body and get out of thought.
00:30:53:10 - 00:31:17:12
Chris
Get into into more about feeling. And so we did a couple of things in the retreat that helped to bring grounding to the nervous system and to the person. And and then once you're in that space of, oh, and you're grounded, then you can navigate, then you can figure out, all right, well, where am I heading? What does realignment look like?
00:31:17:12 - 00:31:30:17
Chris
How can I get back on track? And just from personal experience, I know I could talk about this for about seven and a half more hours without taking a breath. So is that.
00:31:30:18 - 00:31:37:23
Filly
Yeah. No. That's good. So going back to leaning in. I was just like, talk about leaning in. I'll talk about the whole framework.
00:31:38:00 - 00:31:39:14
Chris
I thought you said talk about a line.
00:31:39:15 - 00:32:01:04
Filly
That's fine. But leaning in. I think that workshop was really critical in creating a really safe space for all. The Body whisper is like the retreat guests that were there because one, it allowed us to have a conversation and for them to become more perceptive around like, oh, this is what it looks like when I go over the edge.
00:32:01:04 - 00:32:28:04
Filly
So if I'm feeling that in any practices or workshop coaching or conversations, I need to take a little break or a little breath or go outside or, you know, disconnect from the group, go sit on the ocean. And like so many people in, we sent out a beautiful feedback form. And we've had lots of people generously giving us feedback, and many of them are like, it was such a safe space.
00:32:28:04 - 00:33:02:07
Filly
And I think that that was a really critical part of the retreat itself, as well as the align process. Personally, for me, leaning in, set the scene for my breathwork experience and it was nice that we had some other a couple of other facilitators in, especially at night time, because then I could be a participant. It's like I can feel up my cup and I can regulate and I can yeah, I don't have to worry about holding space or like running the session from my head.
00:33:02:07 - 00:33:25:00
Filly
I can just drop down into my body. And so the breathwork session, the very first transformational breathwork session I did, I went over the edge like I'm like, oh, you tell me to like charge. This is like a more intensive breathwork technique. At the. For the first part of the breathwork, I'll go, I'll take your 80% and I'll take it to 110%.
00:33:25:06 - 00:33:49:21
Filly
And because I went over the edge with my physiology, my hands were doing weird things. It actually brought up a lot of really dark memories that I didn't know what to do with. And so ever since then, when I've done transformational breathwork, I've always stayed away from the edge, like I've learnt close enough that it was still a powerful experience, an outcome each breathwork session that I've done.
00:33:49:21 - 00:34:15:01
Filly
But I've I've until the retreat. I've always stayed away from the edge because I'm like, oh, I don't want like something scary to happen to my body or to me. However, this night, because we'd had just the most delightful first day of the retreat and I was just, like, buzzing. And I was so happy and joyful, even though I hadn't slept that the night before, even though I thought that I wasn't good at socialising.
00:34:15:01 - 00:34:41:21
Filly
I'm like, I got like so much more capacity. I could go like another day without sleeping. And I'm actually really good at socialising. And just because my dream was coming to a fruition and it was no longer just in my head, on my heart, but it was actually happening in real life. I personally felt really powerful and because of that, I'm like, I am going to go to the edge with this breathwork session.
00:34:41:22 - 00:35:11:17
Filly
I trusted me enough. I felt safe with me enough. I felt strong, I felt capable, and I just felt like I had developed so much wisdom about myself and my body that I wouldn't go so hard and over the edge that I would break. But I knew that I, I could push myself in this session in a transformational way, not from a place of like, I have to prove myself.
00:35:11:17 - 00:35:51:04
Filly
It was actually just like a really vibrant decision that I made. And what happened in the breathwork session. I had a couple of things that popped up into, like from a visualisation point of view, I actually saw myself. I had fallen over the edge over this cliff that Chris was talking about and I. But I'd grabbed onto this grass and I was the person grabbing onto the grass, but the grass was also me, and I felt like deep in my body that I'm like, I can take risks and I can do hard things, and I can follow my dreams, even when they're scary, even when, like, my mind might be saying a reason, a bunch
00:35:51:04 - 00:36:08:17
Filly
of reasons why I shouldn't or I couldn't or like practically, logistically, this won't work. Or you'll lose a bunch of money, or you'll lose a bunch of friends or people in your life or whatever it is. And so that was really powerful that like, I was over the edge, but I was holding onto the grass and the grass was me.
00:36:08:18 - 00:36:35:12
Filly
It was almost like, you've got this girl, we've got you. You can like you're not. So you're not so out of tune with yourself that you're going to go plummeting over the edge. But you can take risks and you're so powerful and capable, which was wonderful. Like I felt so powerful. And that has continued on like even a week in two days, posted post the retreat.
00:36:35:12 - 00:37:02:00
Filly
I feel that in my body. And then another thing showed up where I always saw, like this energetic rainbow connecting to a cliff that we had our welcome ceremony on. So the cliff was down below the accommodation, looking out at the ocean, and this energetic rainbow connected the rainbow to Uluru. And then the energetic rainbow came back to the cove.
00:37:02:00 - 00:37:28:20
Filly
But this side, it was like up on the hills. And then this energetic rainbow came into me and into the room, and it was like my hands were projecting all of this like beautiful, strong, powerful, healing energy to every single other person in the room. I know that that sounds like a bit crazy. Crazy things happen when you're doing breathwork, but it's kind of the it's what happens afterwards.
00:37:28:20 - 00:38:00:11
Filly
And because you have such a sensory experience that really anchors for me like it anchors into my subconscious. So I actually come out of it feeling very different. So that was really cool. So from the capacity point of view, it was like even with broken sleep leading up to and during the retreat, I proved to myself that I had I had enough, I could hold space for the retreat, even if I was a bit tired in the morning.
00:38:00:13 - 00:38:21:04
Filly
And what I found was the whole retreat experience actually gave me more life and energy. Yes, it took me a few days to recover after I came home, but I think that that's normal for most people. Even you were tired for a few days and you weren't there as much as I was. And then also there socialising piece.
00:38:21:04 - 00:38:55:21
Filly
So that little block I was talking about earlier, I followed my heart to create this retreat, and I thoroughly enjoyed crafting it together. But before we'd actually delivered the retreat, there was a hesitancy within me around announcing future retreats because I'm like, well, I've really enjoyed creating it, putting all the bits and pieces together, but I want to wait until I actually deliver the retreat to see if I love it as much as creating it, because the fear was, that's a lot of people.
00:38:55:23 - 00:39:24:09
Filly
That's a lot of like socialising and like, I can't just close my screen on zoom and then be on my own the way that, you know, we're doing our online practice. Luckily for me and for everyone else, what I found was I actually really loved the people inside of things of this retreat. I loved the holding space, I loved the teaching, I loved guiding practices, and I loved the socialising.
00:39:24:09 - 00:39:43:20
Filly
It was kind of like at times I was taking off my practitioner or coach and putting on my sisterhood hut. And at the end of the retreat, we went back down to the cliff where we started, and at the start of the retreat, I got everyone to choose a rock, and they placed the rocks on a platform.
00:39:43:20 - 00:40:12:17
Filly
And that rock essentially symbolised what they'd been carrying, what was holding them down or holding them back, the things that were feeling stuck. And we placed those rocks on the platform. And then a few days later, we came back to that same spot and picked up the rocks. And based on everyone's personal journeys, what they were ready to shift and let go of, or what had been shifted and what they were choosing to let go of.
00:40:12:17 - 00:40:38:01
Filly
When they left the retreat, everyone picked up their rocks and like, threw it out into the ocean. And so when we did the sharing circle at the end, it's like, what shifted for you? What are you choosing to take with you from this retreat? What are you choosing to let go of? When it came to my turn? I for the first time, I shared the peopling like the fear of and nervousness around peopling and.
00:40:38:01 - 00:40:58:12
Filly
And I also shared that I have loved this experience. And so the rock that I was throwing away was I'm not good at socialising. That rock can go away because I'm actually really good at socialising when I'm with my people and all the people that came to the retreat and all the people that supported the retreat were so my people.
00:40:58:13 - 00:41:17:15
Filly
And it was interesting because a couple of other ladies were like nodding emphatically. They're like, yeah. I was actually also nervous about the people inside of things, like people who. But I really wanted to come to the retreat and all of them said the same thing. It's like I loved the people with these people. These are my people.
00:41:17:17 - 00:41:45:19
Filly
And so if you feel like you're our type of people or where you're type of people and you want to get in the room with us and with a group of amazing human beings all on the same journey to be deeper and more lovingly connected with self, to be their own self healers, to lean in, take the mask off, do the work together.
00:41:45:19 - 00:42:26:07
Filly
I would love to invite you to our next retreat. If you click the show notes below, it will take you to our retreat page. I honestly don't know what will be on that page yet. At the time of recording, we only have a wait list, so it might take you to a wait list. Or if we have had enough time and we've organised ourselves around where future retreats will be, then it would take you to a landing page where you can book your spot at our next retreat, which I am just so excited about.
00:42:26:08 - 00:42:47:20
Filly
So I'm really happy that I enjoyed the peopling. I enjoyed creating it, I enjoyed delivering it, and we're getting beautiful feedback from other people around how much they enjoyed it and how much they got out of it as well. So click the link below and you can jump on the waitlist or come join us if the page is ready.
00:42:47:22 - 00:43:31:03
Filly
And next week I really want to like today. It was more about my own personal insights and shifts and experiences that I had as the retreat leader and my own rewiring work and identity shifting work that I did next week. I really want to talk more about the collective power or the power of collective healing. So when we share a healing experience together, what actually happens in our brain, in our nervous system, in our spiritual, energetic fields, and how extraordinary it was, and I'm going to share some, some experiences.
00:43:31:05 - 00:43:50:01
Filly
These people have given me permission of other women who really felt so much nourishment and so much healing within this collective transformational container. So stay tuned for next week.
00:43:50:03 - 00:44:00:01
Filly
