Filly
So get ready to heal your body, get your spark back deeply, connect with yourself, and step into the life of your dreams.
00:00:46:14 - 00:00:57:08
Chris
Let's dive in.
00:00:57:10 - 00:01:06:09
Chris
And welcome to this episode of the Ending Body Burnout Show. Today, Fili and I have a Connect the Dots episode for you.
00:01:06:11 - 00:01:31:13
Filly
Yes, if you are new to the podcast or you haven't listened to a Connect the Dots episode, I'll just explain briefly what we do on these episodes. So we actually take a listeners case and put our detective hats on to connect the dots of their health issues, their symptoms, and identify potential body mine root causes and also suggest best lab test to confirm imbalances.
00:01:31:13 - 00:02:02:03
Filly
So in today's episode, we're digging into Cheryl's case, where we are going to unpack a flare up of menopausal symptoms, a brain fog, poor concentration and focus post having the Covid vaccine. And we're also going to dig into a couple of gene mutations that were in this case study as well, and how the Covid vaccine menopause may have activated these mutations.
00:02:02:03 - 00:02:20:17
Filly
So before we move on, just want to say a really big thank you to Cheryl for sending in your case and letting us investigate this on the podcast today. It does require a bit of time to fill in the application form and also some vulnerability. So I'm excited to to share what we have put together today.
00:02:20:19 - 00:02:23:14
Chris
Boom.
00:02:23:16 - 00:02:44:12
Filly
And if you would like your own case reviewed on a Connect the Dots episode, just head to the show notes, click the application form and send us your case. Or if you're like, actually Chris and Filly, I would love to actually meet with you one on one and have a connect the dots initial consult. The calendar is open.
00:02:44:12 - 00:03:03:23
Filly
We do have some spots available. When will this go out? August. So maybe I mean at the moment at time of recording there are some spots available in August and I would I would love to help you out so you can check out the show notes on some more info about booking in for a one on one connect the dots initial consult.
00:03:04:01 - 00:03:27:23
Filly
One last piece of housekeeping before we jump. In today's case, just to just a disclaimer, we haven't met with the listener. I haven't had a 90 minute in-depth, one on one consult with her to really ask all the deeper dive, deeper questions, to be able to figure out what's going on. So this really is for informational educational purposes.
00:03:28:03 - 00:03:55:06
Filly
It doesn't replace having an official consult with us or with your medical doctor or practitioner. So what we discussed today isn't from a place of advice giving do this, don't do that, do this test. It's more just to open up the space to have a look from a different perspective. Using our ending body burnout method approach of looking at body mind, holistic healing.
00:03:55:07 - 00:04:18:00
Chris
The cool opportunity for for listening to us in this episode is that you get a sneak peek into our brain and and our process, and how we work and how we operate. And if you'd like that set of brains on your side, then connecting the dots, having a connect the dots experience with Filly is an amazing next step for you.
00:04:18:00 - 00:04:47:15
Filly
Yeah. Awesome. Okay, so let's dive into the listeners case. So I always love to learn or to know what symptoms are presenting first. So Cheryl has mentioned that she is experiencing menopause. Although I would want to know specifically what she means by menopause symptoms. Is this term like menopause as a term actually means 12 months after your last period?
00:04:47:16 - 00:05:19:11
Filly
Menopause lasts for one day. It's the birthday of your last one year period, and then after that it's postmenopausal. And then previous to that 12 month post your your last period. It's perimenopausal if you're in that period. So I mean and that information matters. So again like we've got the skeleton skeleton information in this case. And I have a bunch of other questions that I'll kind of just bring to the surface as we're going through this case.
00:05:19:11 - 00:05:43:23
Filly
So that's one thing I'd like to know is that perimenopause is it post menopause. What do you actually mean by menopausal symptoms. What's going on for you. Because it can be really different for everyone. Now she did mention that she's really struggling with brain fog, poor concentration and an ability to focus, which may be a what she is referring to as a menopausal symptom.
00:05:43:23 - 00:06:17:09
Filly
Because brain fog can be very common when a woman is moving through perimenopause and even post menopause. If the hormones and deeper underlying root causes is still wonky imbalanced. She also mentioned that she had always suspecting some gene mutation, so she mentioned empty HFR gene, which I'm guessing has been tested, although that wasn't specifically named. So again, that would be another question that I would be asking.
00:06:17:10 - 00:06:47:10
Filly
Have you actually had this test, or have you just read a bunch of information about it online and you're suspecting? And she did also say possible fast Comt mutation. So again, has that been tested? Is that gene mutation or polymorphism there and or is it just suspected or is there a suspicion around. It's actually fast and over over functioning now.
00:06:47:12 - 00:07:09:03
Filly
Okay. So this is what we're dealing with. Next question I love to know is when did these symptoms first manifest. So if we start going back down the timeline to try and discover where it all started, the listener mentioned that year, round 2020, she had her first Covid vaccination. And that is kind of all the information that was given.
00:07:09:06 - 00:07:21:20
Filly
So I would want to know a bunch of other things. It's like, how did you feel during Covid time? Was it stressful for you? Did you want the vaccine jab? Was there a cohesion happening.
00:07:21:21 - 00:07:23:15
Chris
Because coercion.
00:07:23:15 - 00:07:50:15
Filly
Coercion happening because this is going to have an impact on someone's stress levels. They're never system and how their body might respond to a vaccination, and also whether gene mutations might express or different health issues can start expressing. And even way before then, I'd love to know what's happening in the childhood as well. Even if someone didn't have presenting symptoms way back when they were a teenager or a kid.
00:07:50:17 - 00:08:11:00
Filly
But these are the things that we want to know, so we can get a really good sense of potential physical and metaphysical stresses and inflammatory. That paved the way to the adult that is now presenting with a body that is screaming at them. Do you have anything else to add to that?
00:08:11:02 - 00:08:40:13
Chris
No, I just, you know, just when people put things down as. COVID's a great example, Covid was my favourite time ever. I really enjoyed the break that I had. Some people had a completely traumatic experience. Well, you know, the total opposite experience to me. I was winding down one career where some people were trying to really ramp up a career.
00:08:40:13 - 00:09:02:17
Chris
And so when when life, like a government disease, conspiracies, corporations all try to to manipulate you in one direction and you're trying to go in the opposite, it's it can be really hard because of power dynamics and things like that. And so I think it's important to to do some digging. We won't do this right at this very second.
00:09:02:17 - 00:09:24:21
Chris
But this is a this is a you issue more than it was a Covid issue is what I'm getting at. And does that make sense. So so this is a for the listener. This is this is we call this an ism a criticism Phillips ism a you how you specifically dealt with that and what that meant about you.
00:09:24:21 - 00:09:45:09
Filly
Yeah. And I did fail to mention so there is a question around what was happening leading up to or during the flare up of health issues. And there was one word life. I don't know if you've ever heard someone just used that word live.
00:09:45:11 - 00:09:46:00
Chris
Yeah.
00:09:46:02 - 00:09:46:20
Filly
The live.
00:09:46:21 - 00:09:52:05
Chris
And there's usually questions that will have to ask after that because I'm like, what does that mean?
00:09:52:11 - 00:10:20:04
Filly
Yeah, I mean it might be like like just like, I don't know, just life. I'm so confused. I don't understand why I got sick, but usually, like, I know they're in conversation, whether it's with a friend, family member, even clients. And it's like, oh, okay. So so what's been going on for you? That is a really common statement with some sort of like a tone to it life.
00:10:20:06 - 00:10:49:08
Chris
Again, this is a there's some things that you can control and that are in your capacity to, to, to do respond to your thoughts, your feelings, your words, your actions. There's some stuff that you've got no chance of controlling government, corporations, seasons of of of the, the, the summer, autumn, winter, spring, the time of tides and all this sort of stuff.
00:10:49:08 - 00:11:10:03
Chris
You can't change that. You've got no control over this. So when you say life, there's some things outside of you that are that are having an impact. And I really mean this. This is really important. So whoever is listening write this down stuff is happening on the outside, but you're feeling it on the inside. This is always going to be a you.
00:11:10:05 - 00:11:16:11
Chris
It's going to be more that you are a response how you're responding.
00:11:16:12 - 00:11:30:23
Filly
Yeah. It's an in like a I guess you use the word it's a you issue maybe like a nicer way of saying that or a neuroscience way of saying that would be it's your internal response to what's happening around you.
00:11:31:00 - 00:11:47:09
Chris
Yeah. I, you know that that seems like when you point, you've you've got those three fingers pointing back at you. Well, this is the same thing. That's the problem. That's the issue. You're the problem. You're the issue. And you've got like one pointer at them and you got three pointing at you. I like to think of it like that.
00:11:47:12 - 00:11:54:02
Chris
It's a bit masculine. It's a little bit sharp and pointy. But yeah okay.
00:11:54:02 - 00:12:20:03
Filly
So and then final question, final question. And then we'll dig into what we think is going on at a physical and metaphysical level. So next question that is like worth its weight in gold is what have you tried so far to address your health issues and has anything worked? I'm always curious around the answer to this response, because when I'm looking at this, I'm looking at, first of all, like, what are the missing pieces?
00:12:20:03 - 00:12:47:10
Filly
So you've tried a bunch of things. They didn't work for you because you're here still having the issues. And so what are some missing pieces that you haven't tried yet? And I'm also really curious when someone writes down a bucket load of all the things and I'm like, oh, that's interesting. So it might not be that there's not a, it might there might not be like a big missing piece to try or to do.
00:12:47:14 - 00:13:21:00
Filly
Then I'm really curious around how were you being when you were moving into doing, using, practising these different things that can help you to heal? And that's going to have some pretty big metaphysical components to it. But this listener mentioned that she's tried various supplements. She said, I, but I don't really know if I'm doing it right, so I would love to know what specific supplements she was taking, what dosages she was taking, where she got the information from, so she didn't really know if she was doing it right.
00:13:21:00 - 00:13:47:15
Filly
Then I assume that it was probably based on her own research, or maybe she went to the pharmacy or the health food store and said, I have this symptom. What should I take? A lot of people can get stuck when it's just when there's just a bombard of information. You could take something like brain fog, for example, and it could be coming from anywhere, which also means that the supplement that you could take that could help to support.
00:13:47:16 - 00:14:12:18
Filly
Why the brain fog is there. From a physical point of view, it could be very different from this person to that person. Or maybe it was prescribed by a practitioner, but it's kind of like I still don't know if I'm doing it right. And that is because a lot of natural health practitioners kind of just base their supplement protocols on guesswork, which is, if I'm place to start.
00:14:12:18 - 00:14:38:02
Filly
But in functional medicine, we love to use lab testing. So we're testing not guessing. So we can actually clearly see and have some data where the body can say to us, this is what I'm needing, this is what I'm deficient, depleted in. This is what I need to kill off something or to support me in this listener also said that she already eats a clean ish diet and cooks everything from scratch.
00:14:38:04 - 00:15:05:22
Filly
Always curious around language like I. As coaches, we never assume our knowledge of clean is the same as what someone else is meaning by clean ish. So I would like like give me give me a food diary. What have you been eating over the course of a week? She's been eating gluten, dairy and sugar free diet. And around that again, I would love to know if there was any difference.
00:15:05:22 - 00:15:30:21
Filly
So when she eliminated these foods, which a lot of people start off with doing because they can be inflammatory foods, hasn't made a difference, because this will give us clues around deeper body system imbalances and root causes. For example, if she felt better, taking out some of those foods, really tidying up her diet, I would start thinking about, okay, there's probably some significant gut or detox health stuff going on.
00:15:30:21 - 00:16:05:00
Filly
Or if she took out inflammatory foods and she felt no different, I'd probably be thinking more about the newer endocrine system, the nervous system, the unconscious mind. So all of these are really valuable clues. Okay, so there are two causes of body burnout. So if we take all that information let's look underneath at what's happening. So in our practice specifically in our ending body burnout method, we believe that there are two causes of body burnout that lead to chronic health issues.
00:16:05:00 - 00:16:33:22
Filly
And these are either physical, physical inflammatory and metaphysical inflammatory. So physical inflammatory are going to be things like infections, toxins, nutritional deficiencies, gut imbalances, hormone imbalances, immune dysregulation, and then metaphysical, inflammatory and more things that we cannot see. But the body or our behavioural patterns or thought patterns are giving us a lot of data that they are an issue.
00:16:33:22 - 00:17:22:04
Filly
So these would be things like unresolved trauma, chronic stress, nervous system dysregulation, unconscious core beliefs, identity patterns, and also emotional emotional suppression. And the big thing that we are very that we advocate is that it's never one or the other. It's one and the other. You cannot just like untangle the different parts of you and just say, brain fog is coming from my detox pathways when, because you're also an emotional, mental, spiritual nervous system, brain neural pathways being, which is all interacting with the detox pathways as well.
00:17:22:06 - 00:17:53:06
Filly
Okay. So physically, let's talk about the physical side of things first, and then we'll move into the deeper metaphysical, inflammatory and root causes. So just so that there in case some of the conditions that I mentioned before that, that Cheryl was experiencing, in case you there new to you and I'm going to give it a definition. Most people have heard the word menopause.
00:17:53:07 - 00:18:22:17
Filly
And I mentioned before that this is a stage of a woman's life where 12 months after having your last period, that is the day of menopause, and then you're post-menopausal. And this usually occurs early 50s, but it can occur a lot earlier and sometimes even later. And perimenopause can last for 12 years as well. So that that's why I was questioning was it is it postmenopausal perimenopausal.
00:18:22:17 - 00:18:54:16
Filly
Where are you at with that. So perimenopausal can start as early as late 30s and can last for up to 12 years. And during this time the hormone levels are constantly fluctuating, which can cause irregular periods in the onset of menopausal symptoms. If those hormones were already out of balance, or there's deeper imbalances in the physical and metaphysical body, then menopause happens and then post-menopausal.
00:18:54:20 - 00:19:26:21
Filly
The years following the 12 month period of not having a period and you're not getting a period then on. And so often for women, they will notice that symptoms eased during this stage. But the drop in oestrogen specifically can really affect long term health, such as bone density. I've also worked with clients like I remember one lady, she's like, oh, my last period was ten years ago and I'm still getting cyclical migraines every month.
00:19:26:23 - 00:19:56:10
Filly
So there can be some pretty significant imbalances that still remain in the body that can continue causing hormonal type symptoms even years after you finish having a period and some really common symptoms in these stages. And by the way, symptoms are not normal. So you can move past menopause and post into post menopause without any major symptoms.
00:19:56:16 - 00:20:31:09
Filly
Common ones that are quite normal is that your period will go irregular. So will you cycle and at some point it will stop. If you're getting these symptoms, these are abnormal symptoms of perimenopause and post menopause. So things like hot flushes, night sweats, insomnia, disrupted sleep, vaginal dryness, weight gain, fatigue, muscle or joint pain. You can also have mood changes so things like anxiety, irritability, depression, forgetfulness and brain fog, which it sounds like the listener who sent her case in.
00:20:31:10 - 00:21:05:21
Filly
This is where a lot of the symptoms are showing up for her around brain fog, inability to concentrate and focus. So when I think about menopausal type issues, there's some body systems that I think about. So yes, we want to look at what are your sex hormones doing? Are they too high or too low? A lot of women can get a little bit gaslit at GP's where if you're perimenopausal, they're like, well, there's no use testing your hormones because they're jumping around day to day anyway as you're moving into menopause.
00:21:05:21 - 00:21:28:10
Filly
And I do agree with that. There is a lot of fluctuations that are happening. But if a woman is still cycling, we actually run a 28 day female hormone panel, which can look at what's happening over the course of a month, and then we can get some really clear data. Other is the progesterone in the boots. Are you producing too much oestrogen?
00:21:28:12 - 00:21:56:03
Filly
Is those levels all over the place. And we can actually start supporting the hormones really specifically for what is presenting over the course of that month. If a woman's post-menopausal and they haven't had a period for over a year, I still think there's a lot of value in doing a one spot. We do saliva in our practice, but you could also do blood or urine to see where your levels are at your hormones.
00:21:56:03 - 00:22:21:23
Filly
We'll drop post-menopausal, but there's still a healthy, functional level even after you stop getting a period. So if they're too low, you can continue to have a lot of hormone type symptoms. And sometimes women are oestrogen dominant. We're actually it hasn't dropped enough. And then they're still showing up with symptoms. So that's really useful because then we're not just blanket saying oh it's menopause.
00:22:21:23 - 00:22:48:00
Filly
We're actually getting some clear data where we can work with the hormones. But from there and this is where women can get stuck with maybe you if you have had menopausal symptoms and you've gone to the GP and you're on HRT, for example, or maybe you've just purchased some herbal support for the hormones on the internet and it's like, well, it helped a bit, but I still have the problems or it helped with this symptom, but I still have these symptoms.
00:22:48:01 - 00:23:27:19
Filly
That's because the sex hormones are interacting with a bunch of other body systems, and one really specific one are the adrenals. So if we move up stream in your chemistry, you need your adrenals to be producing cortisol and DHEA. And then these hormones DHEA converts into testosterone and oestrogen. So if data is really suppressed because you have been chronically stressed and you're now in adrenal fatigue, that can affect your production of oestrogen and testosterone, whereas cortisol really closely interacts with progesterone.
00:23:27:19 - 00:23:55:11
Filly
So if you're producing high amounts of cortisol or you have been for many months, years, even decades, that's actually going to suppress your ability to be able to produce progesterone. So that's definitely a body system. I think about when a woman is presenting with menopausal type symptoms. We want to test to see if there's adrenal fatigue and what stage you're in, so we can support the adrenals alongside the sex hormones.
00:23:55:13 - 00:24:25:15
Filly
Also because she was experiencing a lot of cognitive symptoms and it showed up after the Covid vaccination. I would also be curious around what's happening with the brain and the neurotransmitters. So the Covid vaccination can cause is notorious for causing brain inflammation, especially in those who have symptoms like chronic symptoms post the vaccination and also depleted dopamine and adrenaline.
00:24:25:16 - 00:24:53:15
Filly
One of the main symptoms that show up when dopamine specifically is depleted is brain fog, forgetfulness, memory loss, even things like Parkinson's dementia if it's to the extreme. So I'd be curious. It's like, okay, maybe it's actually not your sex hormones. Maybe it's actually not menopausal symptoms. Maybe there's something going on with the brain. And this is again where we want to test, not guess.
00:24:53:15 - 00:25:14:11
Filly
So run a urine test to see what's actually happening in the brain. And two other body systems that I'd also think about is gut health. So even though she didn't mention any gut symptoms, although potentially if I had her in my corner for 90 minutes in a one on one connect the dots, we might discover that there's gut symptoms.
00:25:14:11 - 00:25:44:12
Filly
Who knows, but it might be worth seeing if there's any inflammation occurring in the gut that could be suppressing hormones and impacting the brain and detox pathways. So liver is definitely a body system. I think about when there's menopausal issues because the liver needs to metabolise hormones. So I'd want to know, like how is the liver going? How well are you detoxing toxins from the body?
00:25:44:12 - 00:26:14:15
Filly
And also how old are you detoxing excess hormones from the body, especially in those who might present with higher amounts of oestrogen or have even seen progesterone or testosterone to high in women who are showing up with hormonal issues. And that's important because we want to know, like if there is an excess of hormones, let's just say this lady has some data and it's like, actually progesterone is really low, but oestrogen is high.
00:26:14:17 - 00:26:41:01
Filly
Then I would want to know why is there excess oestrogen? And often it is because the liver isn't clearing out that excess. And also along with that. So putting hormones aside, if the liver detox pathways aren't working very well, then heavy heavy metals, toxins, even things like chemicals or ingredients in a vaccine struggle to be removed from the body.
00:26:41:01 - 00:27:08:02
Filly
And so then they can get stuck in fat cells. And your brain is the fattest part of the body for a lot of people. And these toxins can literally get stuck in brain cells, in fatty deposits in the brain. And it can cause things like neuroinflammation and deplete those neurotransmitters. So a lot of these body systems are constantly going to be interacting with each other.
00:27:08:04 - 00:27:36:06
Filly
Okay. Now I just want to talk about the gene mutations as well because these ones are quite interesting. And then we'll move into deeper metaphysical root causes. So she did mention having the gene. I'm not going to go deep into this genetic mutation. We did actually do a longer episode on this gene back in episode 74. The title was wide testing can do more harm than good.
00:27:36:07 - 00:27:43:20
Filly
So you can go back and listen to that one if you want to, but in context of today.
00:27:43:22 - 00:28:17:13
Filly
MTF r is the most common genetic mutation that can affect your ability to detoxify. And it's also really important for brain and neuro health. So if the gene isn't sorry that not gene, the mutation has started expressing and that can occur post something like a vaccine or even something like a pathogen. So some people can develop long haul Covid, for example.
00:28:17:13 - 00:28:50:18
Filly
Or they might have had glandular fever. And then ever since then they've never felt well, that's because these pathogens or gut pathogens can actually cause so much stress and inflammation in the body that these mutations that were kind of just hanging there, not causing any issues and now expressing. So that is great to know, because it also means that we can deactivate the gene mutations when, when the environment is stable and safe and balanced.
00:28:50:20 - 00:29:21:02
Filly
Now the empty for gene mutation metabolises certain nutrients in particular B12 and folate. So there is a test that I love to run the organic acid test that has some methylation markers. And it also gives us some indications of how the other B's and some other amino acids that relate to function is going. And this is great because someone could have a genetic test where it says I have the gene.
00:29:21:02 - 00:29:46:19
Filly
But my question will always be is it expressing and is it contributing to symptoms. And if it is, then we can support it. But if it's not, then we're kind of supporting something that's not going to shift the problem. So really common symptoms that show up with for things like fatigue, brain fog and low mood. So again, these things are showing up for this listener in her case.
00:29:46:19 - 00:30:22:22
Filly
And often we could see some other inflammatory issues like body aches, headaches, migraines, food sensitivities, hormone issues, infertility and fluid retention. I do find a lot of people who who have this gene activation are often quite sensitive to things, whether that's supplements or food or stress and, and chemicals. So and that is because it's all part of detoxing as well.
00:30:23:00 - 00:30:26:14
Filly
Okay.
00:30:26:16 - 00:30:51:09
Filly
And then the other jade that I want to touch on is something we haven't talked on the podcast today, so I think it's worth digging into a little bit. Cheryl also wondered if she had a fast Comt gene. If you haven't heard of this, I'm going to try and pronounce what Comt It is the word catechol o methyltransferase.
00:30:51:09 - 00:31:22:11
Filly
And this contain produces an enzyme that helps to clear dopamine, adrenaline and oestrogen from your brain and body up to four times faster than the slow variant. So it's also known as the warrior type. And it yields lower baseline dopamine, making individuals calm under pressure but prone to low motivation or fatigue in routine environments. So this is super interesting because before.
00:31:22:13 - 00:31:49:13
Filly
I was mentioning menopause oestrogen, it's also like, oh, there might be brain inflammation or some of those neurotransmitters might be depleted. So if this gene has activated then it will show up in a lab test that dopamine and adrenaline and oestrogen are much lower than what they should be. So again, great to know if the gene is there, but I don't think it's necessary for healing.
00:31:49:14 - 00:32:16:18
Filly
The more important thing to know is how is it affecting the body systems, because those systems we can treat and support. And if these genes are expressing, we would want to nutritionally support the genes. So things that support the Comp gene are nutrients like B12 and B6, magnesium, tyrosine, tryptophan. Some of them have a crossover with nutrients that support empty.
00:32:16:20 - 00:32:45:00
Filly
So things like B12, folate, B6, things like cysteine, glutathione can all be really helpful to support these mutations. And also the body systems that are being burnt out based on the the genetic mutations expressing. And of course, we don't want to stop there because if we just throw a bunch of supplements in the mouth and cross fingers, that everything will change.
00:32:45:00 - 00:33:08:16
Filly
But we're not actually addressing the deeper metaphysical stresses and inflammatory that are causing the body systems to burn out and the genes to being activated, then that will often lead to either not getting any changes at all, or you might feel better for a period of time, but the symptoms or some other type of symptom will come back.
00:33:08:16 - 00:33:35:04
Filly
So in our practice and with our clients inside our ending body burnout method, we always want to take a holistic approach to helping that person to heal. We want to change not just the body systems and support and heal the body systems, the physical parts of us. But we also want to change who and how you are being, because that's what led to the body systems to burn out in the first place.
00:33:35:06 - 00:33:41:02
Filly
Okay.
00:33:41:04 - 00:34:16:00
Filly
Okay. So questions that I would ask why are these genes expressing if there's low dopamine, if there's low oestrogen, even if there's just menopausal symptoms as has been described I would ask why. So why? Why have these things occurred post the Covid like beyond just having the Covid jab? Because a lot of people got the jab and actually a lot of people didn't get sick or didn't have long lasting effects from it.
00:34:16:02 - 00:34:38:16
Filly
So so there's always going to be something deeper going on. And I thought we might look at the metaphysical potential stressors, inflammatory root causes from the lens of masculine and feminine energies. Would you like to give a little brief description of what these energies are? Chris.
00:34:38:21 - 00:35:06:05
Chris
Yeah, I like to think of it as, you know, the masculine energy is more action doing. It's it's it's it's inserting yourself into life. It's just think about doodles and vagina as, as, as a metaphor for, for the energies. That's how I remember it. So think about like when it comes to masculine and feminine energies, just like doodles and vaginas.
00:35:06:06 - 00:35:09:10
Chris
Like you don't want to be too rigid in your life.
00:35:09:12 - 00:35:11:07
Filly
But also flexibility. Can I.
00:35:11:07 - 00:35:12:01
Chris
Say that?
00:35:12:04 - 00:35:21:19
Filly
Can I say that masculine and feminine isn't gender based? That every like, oh yeah, every person will have masculine or feminine energy.
00:35:21:19 - 00:35:25:10
Chris
So Kelly does this often. She's like, Chris, can you explain this? And then she said, I.
00:35:25:10 - 00:35:26:06
Filly
Think you might.
00:35:26:07 - 00:35:26:20
Chris
I think he.
00:35:26:20 - 00:35:29:18
Filly
Going down a rabbit hole. That might confuse people.
00:35:29:19 - 00:35:51:01
Chris
I'll explain it my way. Okay. Think about a penis. All right. It's firm as rigid, and it goes into something and it inserts itself into life. This is this is the. This is the energy of masculine. Now the feminine. The vagina is more about receiving, excepting feeling, bringing it in you to, to.
00:35:51:02 - 00:35:54:09
Filly
Create, knowing what that feels do.
00:35:54:11 - 00:36:34:17
Chris
Apparently so. So when you, when you go, when are you going into into masculine and feminine energies? This is the Chris way of explaining it. Think about think about masculine from a resourceful point of view is doing producing. It's active thinking, logical, linear talking, going the unresponsive masculine. So so when it's over rigid overdoing over dominant suppressive so squashing over competitive you know perfectionism forcing I can speak from experience that that this is where you.
00:36:34:17 - 00:36:35:13
Filly
Are so can I.
00:36:35:15 - 00:37:12:21
Chris
Females can be masculine and full. So I just wanted to give the penis analogy first fill. So so that's the masculine energy. Feminine resourceful by being feeling emotional accepting. Think about caring, creating, cooperating, listening, being intuitive like these sort of things. The feminine would be passive, overly emotional, overly sensitive, co-dependent, insecurity. Manipulative. Victims are so passive aggressive in their.
00:37:12:22 - 00:37:33:05
Chris
Yeah, kind of. So these are these are the feminine things guys. Men can be can run feminine patterns as well. So the energies aren't gender. Specific Pacific. But to to help you think about it. Think about deals a vagina does.
00:37:33:07 - 00:37:49:19
Filly
So for me as an example, when I was in a state of body burnout, I was definitely ticking all the masculine and resourceful patterns. And that is why I burnt out, because I didn't have any. I felt I did it because.
00:37:49:19 - 00:37:51:10
Chris
I swapped it for a penis.
00:37:51:12 - 00:37:51:22
Filly
Because I.
00:37:51:22 - 00:37:53:19
Chris
Didn't have a sword fighting. We were just.
00:37:53:19 - 00:38:18:10
Filly
Stepped up. What? Oh my gosh, it's because I didn't have a balance of feminine, resourceful patterns and energy. I wasn't very good at being. I wasn't very good at feeling or being emotional or receiving or allowing or flowing or being intuitive. And so and then for other people like you, probably.
00:38:18:10 - 00:38:27:21
Chris
I was over, over full masculine, overdoing, overly competitive fight flight. So, so like, yeah, both both of us were.
00:38:28:01 - 00:38:37:16
Filly
Yeah. And then on the other side, like some people can go into body burnout as well because they're in the resourceful feminine. So that's often more showing up as like shut down.
00:38:37:17 - 00:38:38:00
Chris
People.
00:38:38:00 - 00:38:53:13
Filly
Pleasing dissociation. People pleasing like a boundary is doing everything else for everyone else, but not for self. And you know, that's going to tip into unresolvable masculine as well. So the reason why.
00:38:53:15 - 00:39:13:04
Filly
I thought we'd look at the masculine and feminine energies and wasn't so that Chris could talk about penises indigenas, but because I think that this is actually a really nice lens of looking at menopause through. So we talked about menopause as a biological event and how that occurs and what happens with the hormones and the age of the woman.
00:39:13:04 - 00:39:45:08
Filly
But there's also a really strong metaphysical way to look at it in terms of menopause as an initiation. So for a lot of women who have been stuck in like, especially the masculine unresolvable the doing, and these are some patterns that Cheryl actually identified with and ticked in her form. So she did mention that she was, like showing patterns of doing, pushing, feeling stressed out, anxious, overwhelmed.
00:39:45:10 - 00:40:11:18
Filly
These are all pretty clear signs that that a woman has been living her life in an unbalanced, masculine, unreal, full. And so from that point of view, regardless of whether you're a woman or a man. But if we're talking about it through the lens of menopause, it is a feminine thing that's happening like it is, the body slowing down.
00:40:11:18 - 00:40:38:01
Filly
It is the new chapter of like, wow, I have raised children. If a woman has raised children or I have like moved through a career or I've learned a lot of things and I've grown stronger and wiser, and then the later years in life is often more flow for free, less doing. Now, if someone is still running patterns of like go, go go go go go to do all the things.
00:40:38:01 - 00:41:07:18
Filly
At some point the body is going to say, this needs to stop. Like we have run these patterns for long enough and it's time for something different. The problem is, especially for a lot of high achieving or busy perfectionist people pleasers, is that we spend way too much in these unreasonable energies. We're either overdoing, forcing, fighting, suppressing, or we're overdoing through lack of boundaries.
00:41:07:21 - 00:41:34:04
Filly
People pleasing, even victimhood would show up in this as well. Or it's like I just have I can't do the things because I don't have the things, and a resentment can show up and lack of hope and basically all of this, if we mush it all together, that is a nervous system that is constantly stuck in survival mode and either displaying as fight, flight or freeze.
00:41:34:06 - 00:42:04:14
Filly
And there's stress and push mode where it needs to switch off. And if it doesn't, if the person's behavioural patterns or way of being isn't changing, the body is going to change it for you. And so when you think about when I think about the the brain fog switching off, like how lovely the body is, saying we're going to switch off some mental tabs, and that's kind of going to force you to slow down somehow.
00:42:04:16 - 00:42:24:11
Filly
It may be like so frustrating. And I see a lot of people pushing against it, and they're causing more pain and distress and more doing, but the body is lovingly trying to get you to stop, to slow down, to take a break somehow. And it will do it through the physiology.
00:42:24:13 - 00:42:37:12
Filly
And in menopause, the feminine often gets louder in that the the body is calling for a.
00:42:37:14 - 00:43:05:14
Filly
For a more loving transition that the mind not be might not be ready for yet. So for someone whose whole life has been built around doing, pushing through, feeling stressed out, overwhelmed, stillness and receiving can actually feel really unsafe. It can even feel terrifying. But that is what the body is calling towards. So again, the brain fog, the flatness, the ability to focus.
00:43:05:16 - 00:43:24:13
Filly
This isn't a malfunction. It isn't your body being broken. It's not something to fix per se. It might actually be a very loving message that your body is actually trying to make it kind of impossible to continue doing in the old way. So it's the feminine getting.
00:43:24:13 - 00:43:25:19
Filly
Really loud.
00:43:25:21 - 00:43:26:18
Filly
To like.
00:43:26:18 - 00:43:29:22
Filly
Quieten down, to be still, to stop.
00:43:30:00 - 00:43:51:20
Filly
To not like have to process so much. And at some point the body can't be ignored. And this is why we, we love and why we see the most effective results when we're working with clients at a metaphysical level as well. Because if we're if we're looking at these deeper patterns that are driving the imbalances, it's going to put more stress on the adrenals.
00:43:51:20 - 00:44:13:15
Filly
It's going to deplete dopamine, it's going to activate gene mutations, and then things get burnt out even faster in those people. And so let's just say we just adjust the diet or chuck in some supplements, but you're still running those metaphysical patterns. You can't out the root cause.
00:44:13:16 - 00:44:14:04
Filly
Also..
00:44:14:04 - 00:44:46:06
Filly
Another connection that I found, I thought that was really interesting is that the fast comp gene is actually quite linked to masculine energy. So I referred to the comp gene as being the warrior profile. So it's where people can thrive under pressure and they needed to feel motivated. But if this gene mutation switches on and you're burning through adrenaline and dopamine a lot faster than usual, biochemically you become quite flat.
00:44:46:06 - 00:45:12:04
Filly
So it's almost like, the gene mutation itself can actually wire the body and the brain to overdo and stress, seek and force, and fight even more because the body is trying to experience or produce its own dopamine when it's already really flat. So it becomes a bit of a two edged sword where like chicken or the egg, what came first doesn't really matter.
00:45:12:05 - 00:45:39:23
Filly
It it some point we just need to put a little lever in the cycle and the circle that's happening so we can actually start healing and teasing apart these metaphysical patterns that will allow the body systems to heal, that will allow the nervous system to relax, that will allow a different way of being to come forth.
00:45:40:01 - 00:46:11:02
Filly
There's also just the last piece of the puzzle there, because we always talk about beliefs as well with our clients. So and unconscious level even below the patterns. So it's like, okay, we've identified some some busy burnt out. Go go go do do do phosphorus horse patterns. But it's like what even is causing those patterns. And so even deeper than that, there's always going to be unconscious core beliefs about self that are driving these patterns.
00:46:11:02 - 00:46:44:08
Filly
And Cheryl did identify some other patterns as well. So she mentioned that she has been feeling stuck across health, business, finances, relationships. There's also comparison and jealousy showing up. There's also procrastination. And so these all point to deeper unconscious beliefs running in the background. Don't know what that is, but it will be something like some sort of not enough, some sort of inadequacy, some sort of like I'm flawed or there's something wrong with me somehow.
00:46:44:10 - 00:47:15:19
Filly
So these dysfunctional beliefs run like little loops in the background, draining the battery. So not only are they causing the patterns that then lead to the body systems burning out, but emotionally they're very heavy and hard to carry around as well because constantly like and this is where Chris was talking about like, oh, it sounds like it might be a you issue, not a Covid issue or a life issue or a Chris issue.
00:47:15:19 - 00:47:48:22
Filly
And then I said, well, another way of thinking about that is your internal stress response. So what you believe about yourself will be calm your internal stress response. And so that's where you could put two people in the same scenario. I mean, Chris and I have shared this story multiple times on the podcast, but Chris and I were both in Covid together in the same house, with the same kids, in the same business, with the same bank account, with the same like let's not get vaccinated and all the things that came along with that.
00:47:49:00 - 00:47:54:12
Filly
And Chris had a very different stress response to Covid compared to mine.
00:47:54:13 - 00:47:55:01
Filly
You loved.
00:47:55:01 - 00:47:55:17
Filly
It, Christie, I.
00:47:55:17 - 00:47:56:11
Chris
Hated it.
00:47:56:13 - 00:48:02:18
Filly
I hated it, or your stress response was regulated like, oh, there's changes coming.
00:48:02:20 - 00:48:35:21
Chris
My my brother in law bought me for Christmas that year a Nike hammock, I don't know, shout out Nicky, please sponsor this podcast. I'm just kidding. Anyway, he bought me my first Nike hammock. I've got two now and that corresponded with with Covid. And and I think that I've got this vision of me going for a walk just after lockdowns and things like that, and setting up my hammock between two trees and that this is really clear in my mind about my mentality and my my nervous system state.
00:48:35:21 - 00:48:39:23
Chris
Is naked hammock chilling out.
00:48:40:00 - 00:48:52:03
Filly
Yeah, I love it. Whereas I was like a little, I don't know, Bunny constantly feeling like the car was about to run over her and headlights.
00:48:52:05 - 00:49:07:07
Chris
I was obsessed with finding the perfect two set of trees that I could wrap my straps around and like, chill out. I walk through the bush everywhere around our our area and I, I found some good ones and some good.
00:49:07:07 - 00:49:17:19
Filly
Trees, and I was stressing about homeschooling and pivoting business and money and Chris not doing enough because he's just like lying on the hammock all day.
00:49:17:21 - 00:49:19:00
Chris
Between two trees.
00:49:19:05 - 00:49:21:02
Filly
Between two trees.
00:49:21:04 - 00:49:34:08
Chris
Got caught once, had a person walk past and and I thought this this spot elevated that spot to the top of my list because the person didn't see me. Yeah. It was it was great. They were like, right, right next to me. Didn't even see me.
00:49:34:09 - 00:49:36:06
Filly
Yeah. Tying it back to the belief.
00:49:36:06 - 00:49:38:08
Chris
Like, oh yeah, let's go back to the.
00:49:38:10 - 00:50:00:15
Filly
Well for me, I could say that it was clearly that's actually what prompted me to do deeper metaphysical work in my own healing journey. One, because I was all of a sudden two reasons. First, reason was all my symptoms came raging back and this time no supplement, lab test, diet essential oil budged it at all, whereas in the past it had.
00:50:00:17 - 00:50:13:06
Filly
And then also just whoa. I didn't think there was anything wrong. Subconsciously, I didn't even know what the subconscious mind was, but I thought my mind was okay. And then when I was experienced the same scenario and Chris was having.
00:50:13:06 - 00:50:14:04
Filly
A completely.
00:50:14:04 - 00:50:23:21
Filly
Different experience, I realised there was some deeper metaphysical healings to do. And for me, that belief was all about being weakening capable. Which makes.
00:50:23:21 - 00:50:25:03
Filly
A lot of sense.
00:50:25:03 - 00:50:48:10
Filly
When you chuck someone with that belief in Covid time where there was a bunch of uncertainty, it's like, if I'm weakening capable, I'll never move through this. I can't do it. And it it just amplified all the busy patterns that I was running previously. They just got way worse and way more noticeable. Okay, so let's wrap it up.
00:50:48:16 - 00:50:51:04
Filly
00:50:51:06 - 00:51:32:11
Filly
Again, like I'll just reinforce that beautiful holistic body. Mind healing is where the deeper healing and transformation really takes place. So we want to look at the physical body. But we also want to look at these deeper metaphysical patterns that are running underneath the surface. And another thing too, that I just want to emphasise, because we have touched on gene mutations today, is that they can switch off so the body isn't broken if you have, whether it's a mutation, or maybe you have got to diagnosis from a doctor like autoimmunity, and you might have heard stories or told by the doctor that, like, you can't cure this.
00:51:32:12 - 00:51:54:08
Filly
You have to like, learn to live with it. People get that too when they're diagnosed with IBS. It's like, just learn to manage it. With diet, all of these things can change. All of these things can be healed, these gene mutations can be switched off. And you can also move through menopause without symptoms, which is so, so exciting.
00:51:54:08 - 00:52:31:17
Filly
And we need to preach that and hear that more often, because I think the common narrative is that menopause sucks, and it's actually the most beautiful transition that a woman in her wise, more aged, more soft expression of herself can move through. Okay. And just as we said before, if you would like your case anonymously reviewed like we did today, head to the show notes and you can submit a Connect the Dots episode application form.
00:52:31:19 - 00:52:57:00
Filly
And we also have my calendar is open at the moment. It isn't always, but at the moment I've got a few spots available for 1 to 1 connect the dots. Initial consults. If you're listening to this a bit more in the future, my calendar might not be open, but that is usually because they're like, we are full or we're in launch mode for our ending body burnout method.
00:52:57:02 - 00:53:08:18
Filly
So come and join us inside the method. Your first session, one on one session with me will be a connect the dots in a similar style to what we unpacked for this listener today.
00:53:08:20 - 00:53:16:06
Chris
Have the best day ever catch up.
00:53:16:08 - 00:53:26:07
