3 Toxic Myths You Believe About Getting Healthy

Mar 28, 2022

Hey, it's Chris here today.

Today, I want to cover the 3 toxic myths about getting healthy that all beginners MUST break away from in order to end their body burnout (for good!) and achieve optimal health.

Getting your mindset right is the #1 thing you have to conquer if you want to finally succeed in resolving burnout symptoms like energy, mood, or gut issues. As the popular saying goes, "You are your worst enemy and your best asset."

From serving many clients from all walks of life over the last 15 years, I can tell you that the best and most successful people are those with the right mindset and attitude, who have the right beliefs about what it takes to not only get to the root cause of body system burnout but also to heal those causes.

It's myth-busters time, my friend! Time to realign your perspectives and make things right.

Myth #1: "I don’t have enough time”

This is SO not true. Of course, you have time. You have 24 hours of time in your day.

When someone says they don’t have time to work on their health, they're really saying: “I don’t prioritise my health over…kids/work/relationships/money/study/TV/junk food/alcohol/staying up late/having fun/etc.”

And you know what? That’s absolutely fine! What’s not absolutely fine is excusing your delay in working on your health because of ‘time.’ Acknowledge that you prioritise your career or kids over getting to the root cause of and working on your fatigue or anxiety or bloating (or whatever it may be), and see how that feels?

The truth is: you have plenty of time.

If you honestly want to work on your health, you need to instead look closely at how you use your time. Are you wasting your time on anything - TV, social media, online shopping? Is there anything work or social related you can drop, delegate, or reduce? Can you wake up earlier? Can you create a tight game plan, and prioritise the important things first?

Of course, you can!

Myth #2: “I don’t have enough money”

I can totally understand why someone would believe in this - money, or lack there it is a real thing - but I have seen time and again that when a goal is important enough, a committed person will find a way (we’ve worked with clients who are homeless - yet are still able to save and prioritise their money on their health).

There are two issues here:

  1. “I don’t have enough money” often means: “I don’t value [this thing] enough to spend my money on it.” We have had many potential clients say they don’t have enough money to spend on functional medicine, even though they have two stable incomes, a house, two brand new cars, go on regular overseas holidays, etc…While other clients on disability pensions or single mums working only part-time do find the money to work on their health. It’s often not about having enough money, but about whether you value your health and the potential for functional medicine to assist in your healing.
  2. Second issue of this myth - “I don’t have enough money” - ties into a deep-seated fear of money and scarcity. Many people have a story in their head that money equals security, and because of this, many people find it hard to part with their money (and it doesn’t matter if it’s $19 or $1999!!). But the thing is, by NOT working on your anxiety or debilitating PMS or your chronic fatigue - what are you actually parting with? Probably a lot more than money! When you understand that the value of getting healthy is more valuable than tightly keeping your money, transformation can finally happen.

When you say “I don’t have enough money,” the question you really should be asking is: “if it’s valuable enough to me, how can I make it work?”

Myth #3: “I’m not worthy enough”

This is a sad myth. Unfortunately, many people feel this way, even if they don’t admit it, or don’t even realise it.

The story that you play in your head that you’re not worthy enough often comes down to feelings of shame, guilt, or programmed ideas that might’ve been instilled within you as a child or teen.

While some people who have this self-limiting belief don’t even give themselves a chance to work on their health, many of these people do. They will spend thousands of dollars and invest many hours of time trying to get to the root cause of their body burnout. However, I find that these people give up very quickly/easily, because deep down inside they believe they are undeserving and are destined to be sick and sorry. These kinds of people desperately need healing of the mind and the spirit.

Let me just say loud and clear: this myth is entirely NOT TRUE! Regardless of your past, I believe that every person is worthy of health and happiness. Just as your body can renew, so too can your spirit.

Why believing in these 3 myths is dangerous

Believing in these 3 myths will stop you from taking the right action. Your confidence gets affected, you don't seek guidance, and subsequently, you don't transform your insides (and ultimately your life!) as a result.

As someone who does life coaching for a living, I have seen breakthrough after breakthrough and I know that it is actually not difficult to take back control to heal your body and your mind; people just don't have the right guidance to succeed when it comes to getting to the root cause of health issues - and fixing them for good.

Many people search for information online fruitlessly, and when that doesn't work, they give up. I don’t want you to give up because I know you can do this!

How else are there millions of people reversing their anxiety, getting rid of constipation, overcoming fatigue, PMS, acne, brain fog, etc, etc…if it was so hard? So they are all geniuses? No... they did it by hiring an expert/s to guide them, and through pure intentional work.

So take heart. You can do this! Don't for a second doubt yourself.

That's all I have for today!
