I know from my own personal experience of body burnout - and from working with over 2000+ human beings, alongside my hubby Chris - that there are three main reasons why the body starts breaking down, leading to common burnout symptoms of energy, mood, and gut issues.

1. Doing WAY TOO much...of the things you value less

IMPACT: You burn the candle at both ends (so to speak) and your body systems literally 'burn out' too. Your stress hormones start to go haywire, your neurotransmitters start to deplete, your mitochondria (your energy powerhouse!) start to collapse. Not only this, but likely your relationships, your work, and your health and happiness start to break down too. You're always trying to 'get ahead' but the more you do, the more your body & mental health become damaged, and the more chaotic your life becomes.

2. Putting EVERYONE ELSE first...and yourself last

IMPACT: You feed your kids before yourself (or feed them healthier foods...and you get the dregs) - that's always going to lead to blood sugar imbalances, gut inflammation, adrenal stress. Or you're saying YES in business too much, and find there's no time to relax or exercise, or even to go to bed at a decent hour. The same old story above: BURN-OUT! You might get to a stage where you're exhausted, fed-up, anxious, and bloated, that you start 'resenting' the people you serve, and you just become downright unhappy.

3. Self-SABOTAGING...your good intentions

IMPACT: You want to take care of yourself, but you get stuck in the cycle of addictions to try and pep your energy or mood up. Sugar, chocolate, caffeine, wine at night, Netflix, staying up way too late working, acting out in rage (when you should've held your tongue)...the list goes on. Your food addictions are always going to lead to gut dysbiosis or leaky gut or pathogenic overgrowth like Candida. You'll start having detox issues. And all those late nights and bright screens at night are always going to do damage to your melatonin and serotonin. And mentally, well, you'll get stuck in this vicious cycle of gratification and escapism, which then leads to guilt and shame.
